It's got nothing to do with Kovalev. It's the 2nd time Duva has killed a major fight because she doesn't have the resources to bid for her fighter. The difference between me and you is I call BS when I see it where you defend it when it involves your favorite fighter.Comment

Purse bids when used correctly are a good thing to make the fight happen with the money ironed out. But here we see it's not about making the fight happen it's a tactical move to kill the fight and try to secure a vacate belt. I want to see the fights happen and it's a joke that one side has a offer on the table right now for a direct title shot and a 2-3 times the money he has ever gotten for a fight yet is turning it down refusing to negotiate to fight one more fight and force a purse bid to leverage a vacate. This is becoming like the franchise tag in the NFL. It started out being a tool for one thing but the owners are expoliting it. Haymon and a purse bid with any of his enemies means the fight doesn't happen. If he overbids it don't happen if the other side overbids like Roc Nation did he still pulls his fighters out. If he was consistent then you might get less people as upset but when it's clear that it ain't about the money and just blocking fights from happening it's pathetic. Why are purse bids outside of Haymon not going down like this? Why are no other promoters turning down direct fights just to fight a eliminator for less money?SO now purse bids are not good because Haymon secured enough resources and wins the bids by playing by the rules.
As to Kov/Bieterbiev you are actually defending Kov trying to make that fight after cowardly backing out of the purse bid after requesting to be the mandatory and then blaming Haymon because he outsmarted Duva who tried to do the same thing.
Man, you guys are deathly afraid of Haymon succeeding and there is no rational reason why it should bother you if all you truly care about is fights being made.
If you didn't kill HBO for blackballing Haymon and preventing fights you wanted, why are you now mad at Haymon for carving out his own niche and not working with HBO?
I don't care who outsmarts who I just want to see the fightsLast edited by bigdunny1; 08-06-2015, 07:59 AM.Comment

Yes, sure, at 9-0 Beterbiev is a "prospect"... like Rigondeaux, who was 11-0 when fighting Donaire, like Lomachenko who holds 5 pro fights...I would love to see this fight, but this situation clearly shows how desperate Kovalev's people are for any meaningful fight. The fact that he's hounding a 9-0 guy and his team is pissed off that a 9-0 guy won't fight them. I can't remember any other time where a promoter with a unified 175-pound champion, a guy with 3 belts, is furious because a 9-0 guy who in all respects is still a prospect, won't fight them because he wants another fight to prepare. The problem is, his promoter locked him in to this HBO deal with no opponents ready to go. Why else would he be fighting on a date in November in Moscow, Russia with no American TV?
... Beterbiev, who trashed Kovalev and called him out, is now a "prospect"... all of a suddain...
... "his promoter locked him in to this HBO deal" but but he's fighting in in "Moscow, Russia with no American TV", right?... but don't you see from where the contradiction here actually emerges, right?... Beterbiev was ready, Michel greenlighted him, but they are stepping back now... all of a suddain... With no connection with HBO/Haymon feud, right? Because HBO isn't involved...
It's only about "no American TV", right?

I call BS when I see it, Stevenson situation for me was BS, and I called it that, Stevenson was a champion, he was level with Kovalev and for that I think a purse bid was the way to do things and I'm fine with that. It's got nothing to do with Kovalev. It's the 2nd time Duva has killed a major fight because she doesn't have the resources to bid for her fighter. However, in this case, Kovalev is giving Beterbiev a shot at three titles, nobody even expected him to do that and that's rarely precedented, Beterbiev was lucky to receive the offer and financially GYM said everything was ok so this was not a lowball or anything like that. However, his team know full well that he's tied to HBO so what's he gonna do? Instead of making the fight happen they found a way to maneuver past him and get the paper title. Disgusting duckjob to me.
And I like Beterbiev.Last edited by BazookaGomez; 08-06-2015, 08:09 AM.Comment

First I'm not even a big fan of Kovalev. Second why does this fight need to be bid on? He is offering you the fight right now offering you big money. Hell the other side is not even saying the money is low or putting out a dollar amount. Why? BECAUSE IT AIN'T ABOUT THE MONEY. If it was then why didn't the Quillen fight happen? that was the most money he has been offered to fight in his career up to date. And it was a fight he wanted. Stop trying to spin this like Duva is being cheap when she just offered 2-3 times what they make for fights. You can't scream Stevenson just wants the biggest payday fight and ignore Beterbiev turning down the biggest payday fight here or Quillen turning down the biggest payday fight. There is one consistent factor in all this Haymon refusing to allow the fight to happen outside of him controlling the venu. So let's stop this charade about it being about money or "resources" or one side being cheap. It's got nothing to do with Kovalev. It's the 2nd time Duva has killed a major fight because she doesn't have the resources to bid for her fighter. ^^^ ... Typical "Haymon poster" ... What "bid"??? Beterbiev isn't the IBF mandatory for Kovalev -- therefore no "bid" is required here... Beterbiev called Kova out, Yvon Michel publicly agreed for an offer. It's got nothing to do with Kovalev. ... This isn't about "favorite fighters", this is about Haymon willingly trying to kill anything that moves outside his "franchise"...Comment

... ... But this isn't about fighters -- it's about Haymon's "politics"...

They'll try and make it seem like this never happened and when the time comes show their true agenda and call a duck on Kovalev, it's so predictable.^^^ ... Typical "Haymon poster" ... What "bid"???
