Comments Thread For: Stevenson Will Take 50-50 on Kovalev, Networks To Bid

Apparently alot. They know its the right deal for the fighters but it mostly comes down to the Haymon hate.
Sad but trueComment

There's always an option. When Tyson was fighting on sho and Lennox on hbo, that was THE fight people wanted to see. Both were rivals and they found an option that worked out and made the fight happen. A bid, for 1 fight is not out of the realm of possibility here. Kov has so much to gain if he wins, which I think he will, even if he fought on a pbc network.
Scrubs? Did you not see who Kov just fought last weekend? Honestly you're trying to knock one fighter for whatever reason when you don't know if hbo can pay them the most money.Comment

Threads like this are always interesting. Same cast of characters everytime. P@ctards, Golovtards, Russophiles, HBO nuthuggers, Mexicans, Euros all holding hands in unison. Proclaiming Stevenson a coward. Because he won't fight on a rival network for less money. These nuthuggers ignore the fact that Kovalev had a chance to fight on PBC BEFORE he signed his agreement with HBO.
I like Kovalev over Stevenson. But you guys are ******s. The same cast of characters. The same blooper reel. **** rimming b*tchboys. Each and every single time.Comment

That's the REAL problem here. HBO *isn't* willing to pay market value for this fight. If they were, fight would have already happened...I despise Haymon with a passion but I have to agree with Yvon Michel in that they have to go with whoever offers the most money. If the deal on the table was a fixed amount offer, not dependant on offers and was an acceptable amount, it would be a different story. But with a 50-50 split, you go with the highest bidder. As Kovalev has an exclusive contract with HBO, then perhaps you give them the opportunity to match the highest offer instead of a blind bidding process. But nothing more than that.Comment

It's not less money, it's more, idiot. Stevenson last drew less than 5k. That's really an accomplishment in boxing crazed Montreal, being Canada's #1 boxerThreads like this are always interesting. That's just foolish. HBO has proved they will work with anyone in boxing. If there is talent they go after it. If there is a big fight with rival promoters they will make the fight. Their history proves this. Stevenson vs Kovalev was a snap to make until Haymon got involved and squashed it. And HBO signing up those guys has nothing to do with Haymon or trying to block anything. They signing them because those are the biggest stars in boxing. And that's what HBO has done for decades sign and develop stars. It's HBO and Duva. Notice what HBO has been doing.
To prevent big fights from being on PBC, they sign exclusive deals with one side. WHy else do you think Kov and Wlad got HBO deals-because that keeps Haymon from making all the dough on Wlad/Deontay and Kov/Stevenson, the 2 biggest fights in boxing other than Canelo/Cotto.
Why else do you think HBO is now pushing Ward/Kov-it's a big fight they get all the profit from and it doesn't expose GGG to Ward before he and Canelo/cotto winner can get it on.
Smart moves by Herschman but it hurts the sport the same way Haymon's moves do-by preventing fights we really want.
Sorry Haymon has a ton of fighters fighting on PBC but very few stars. Most of the stars and main world champs in these weight classes are not owned by Haymon. And HBO been signing fighters to exclusive deals way before Haymon came along. That's called smart business. Haymon wants to operate with his fighters on handshake deals with networks? Why so HBO can get screwed over like Showtime just did? And funny how Haymon don't believe in signing exclusive contracts yet he doesn't operate on handshakes and promises with his own fighters. They all have to sign contracts with him first.Comment

Cmon man, this is not even a PPV. GTFO with the Tyson/Lewis comparison. It's simple, of the 2 only Kovalev has an exclusive contract with a network. So it's either they meet on HBO for very good money, or Stevenson fights more no hopers for much less. There's always an option. When Tyson was fighting on sho and Lennox on hbo, that was THE fight people wanted to see. Both were rivals and they found an option that worked out and made the fight happen.
