The difference is Pac never claimed to only fight the best. Floyd claims to only fight the best and only fights opponents that the fans want to see.

But Berto is not the same fighter when he was coming up. His three losses were very bad losses and it changed him. And changed him for the worse. Yes he did beat Lopez but he was getting sparked before sparking Lopez(which was stopped early IMO). And IMO Lopez is just a gate keeper type fighter nothing more.
Now prior to Berto getting ruined by Ortiz, Guerrero and Soto-karass id take a fresh Berto over Algierie but right now this very moment I'd take Algierie to break Berto down and IMO quite easily for comfortable UD win and maybe late tko.
But hey you have your opinion and much love for it. It's just my eyes see something different than yours.Last edited by boxinghead530; 07-28-2015, 02:11 PM.

So when he fought Manny you had seen 2 fights of his. if he wasn't on HBO when would you have seen him?
Yes, Berto isn't where he was, but Algieiri isn't even where Bert is right now. he has NO WW WINS. Berto at least won his last WW fight, even if it wasn't an earth shattering performance.
I definitely would have seen him again, I thought he showed some grit against Provo and I've had less reason to watch fights of other fighters. We would likely have seen him fight in his next fight defending his world title against a 140 contender or moving up against someone else at 147 if not for Pac.
What reason do you have to keep saying that we wouldn't have seen Algieri again exactly? He won The Ring Magazine's Upset of the Year in a fight for a title that was at the Barclay's center and the co-main event of a card on HBO. What are the odds he'd suddenly disappear after that?
Also, keep telling yourself that only pac-turds thought Algieri could win. Took me not 5 seconds to find an article that suggests otherwise. Find me one article from a reputable news source that isn't just quoting from Berto or his trainer/camp (or Floyd/his camp), that like the article mentioned below describes a way that Berto could have a chance to beat Floyd, and I'll change my avi to a pic of Floyd until the end of the calendar year. Just one.
"Algieri can win this fight with his jab. "
"That firm jab will be what knocks Pacquiao off his game and his reach will make it that much harder for Pac Man to penetrate with his attack."
"If Pacquiao settles into a chess match with Algieri, the Long Islander's jab can carry the day."
"If Algieri gets into a comfortable rhythm of landing his jab and right hand, even the great Pacquiao will have trouble beating him."
etc from:

Sparring footage? you watched him spar and that is how you determined he's an up and comer.
Ok.

Ok.
And my bad, didn't realize that was a Long Island newspaper. Ignore that article, and refer instead to this one.
"Pacquiao could struggle against a fighter who is able to control the distance, use every inch of the ring and stay out of his range."
"If he’s able to pop Pacquiao’s head back the way he did Provodnikov, he could have something big to build upon."
"Algieri is an athletic boxer who builds his offensive attack off a stiff jab and movement. His style, reach and length can give Pacquiao more than a couple of problems, "

dude he's 31 years old. he is never going to be anything more than he is now. Can't you understand that?
Manny could struggle against a guy like Floyd that can control distance with his length. Algieiri can't do that. remember he has no amateur experience. he was kickboxing.

I'm not a Floyd fan but after giving Paquia a boxing lesson and Amir Khan once again needing more time to recover from Rammadan it would appear that theres nothing wrong with FLoyd fighting Berto.

If Mayweather was serious about being remembered as TBE, he would have faced GGG. Bradley is the only one at 147 who wins a few rounds against him, but we all know that fight will never happen.
Hint: A fighter that makes Berto look like the second coming of SRR.

Floyd is coming off the biggest fight of our time, and put the entire world to sleep with his boring performance. He owes the fans, not the other way around.
You Floyd stains are so delusional you think you owe him something. It's sad and pathetic the excuses you make for this guy, "Floyd earned this yo."
Earned what exactly? I paid 100 bucks to be entertained, not to watch a dude, grab and run for 12 damn rounds.
