Yes they were. The "come back from a KO" to justify the Rios fight is understandable, Algieiri wasn't. Algieri was as bad as Berto would be if made.

Rios is a known slugger with a granite chin. Someone who is in your face and has KO power. Been in proven wars. That makes him a threat to any fighter. Sort of like Ruslan.

speaking of Ruslan...Algieri proved himself by beating Ruslan. Who some thought beat Bradley in a close fight. Also Algieri did what most people wont do.
Fought Khan. He loss a decision but made Khan look bad. Floyd wont even fight Khan. Floyd will fight Maidana...someone who loss to Khan.

Canelo Hes still young and really unproven still. Im not buying into his hype yet. Has plenty of potential though

Manny hasn't fought Khan or Ruslan or Maidana or Canelo.

I don't know about Algieiri boxing circles around Berto.

Algieri and Berto should not be in against someone on Floyd's level or someone on Manny's level.

No, Algieri was an undefeated up and comer with two decent wins and a world title belt who was a 6-1/7-1 underdog. Berto is a washed up guy with losses to Ortiz, Guerrero and Soto Karass who is coming off an eh-worthy performance against Josesito Lopez and who has absolutely no chance to win.

I'm not at all saying Algieri was a very good pick, but by no means is he on the level of Berto. The Algieri that fought Pacquiao would outbox Berto, and was in a better place in his career easily.

Algieiri had no wins at WW when he fought Manny and had 20 pro fights. Berto has far more pro experience, pro success, and has fought much better fighters than Algieiri.

you didn't even know who algieiri was when the fight was announced.

This is why people think you are EVol, because he would come up with ****** **** like this.

What? I watched Provo/Algieri, so yeah, I knew who he was already. Only after the fight was announced did I watched Algieri/Emmanuel Taylor though.

Yes Berto has significantly more experience, there is no doubting that. But he hasn't looked good in a fight win or lose in several years. Just because you have more experience doesn't mean you're automatically better than every up and comer.

Algieri had two decent wins to his name, nothing huge, but to me he looked good in both fights. I didn't think Algieri could win personally, and he wasn't the best option available for sure, but some did think Algieri could win. No one is giving Berto a prayer against Mayweather.

Keep reachin with that EVol **** bro

EDIT: Algieri was coming up to 144 sure, but I figured he was doing so as a stepping stone to 147 (which he now fights at). Pac is not big for 147 so making 144 was easy for him. I'm sure Pac benefitted more in the fight from that weight, and I'm not huge on catchweights, but this one was reasonable for both sides.

Exactly what I said, you didn't know who Algieiri was before hand.

You are calling Algieiri and "up and comer" based solely on him getting the fight. you admitted you hadn't seen his body of work so your opinion lacks evidence. with Berto you have seen far more fights-wins and losses.

No one thought algieiri could win. Manny suck offs like Hectari pretended they saw this as a "tough style matchup". Of course no one thinks Berto can win because Floyd is Floyd.

Just admit it "Bob", Manny fought algieiri because it was an easy stay busy fight that wouldn't affect the Floyd fight in May. Even though Floyd is saying he is retiring, Berto is the same thing IMO.

You may be right with what you say about Berto as far as the experience, and having fought better fighters than Algierie but that has also turned Berto into mush. Dude is a zombie. Berto is at best now a stepping stone for up and comers to get a name on their resume.

I am by no means suggesting Berto is a good fight for Floyd. I am simply saying he is a much better pro then Algieiri.
