He fought the real life Rocky Balboa, Chuck Wepner then 2 months after that he fought Ron Lyle. The thing is, if Floyd was actively fighter 3 to 4 times a year then yes you can thrown in soft touch in between. Just like Ali did. He had his war with Foreman then took off a few month and fought Wepner then 2 month later took on the Ron Lyle who was back then one of the top guys.

All im saying is if Floyd was more active then this twice a year fighting then fighting a softy would be ok. But if you are going to fight twice a year you better make sure that your opponents are top notch every time otherwise you are going to get major heat and now he is getting major heat.

IMO if the top guys in the sport not named Floyd or Manny fought more than twice a year they would be more known and get more exposure which leads to more money. I think this only fighting twice a year when you become a champion(how most champions do it these days) is BS and hurts them financially(not just because they are fighting more). Theyd get more exposure so when they do fight their purses would be bigger because they are more known and have a bigger fanbase than a guy who has been getting less exposure.
