I've followed his career since the Olympics and attended his last fight (could have done without the rap concert). I'm also a fan of GGG and look forward to him facing Ward before Ward moves up to Kovalev.

$7 million isn't enough for Bum-love-kin's handlers to feed him to Ward. Not as long as HBO keeps paying for the Triple Duck to knock over TOMATO CAN after TOMATO CAN...

That may be the case; my point was simply that, conservatively estimating things, there's enough money in the pot for both fighter to walk away with their biggest paydays ever, while also finally giving Golovkin that opportunity to see if he can break out into being a star (Even if Ward beats him, as long as he doesn't get skunked, there's still enough there for the HBO hype machine to draw some money with him).

Golovkin has no other such opportunity to honestly look forward to, if we're honest (Canelo-Cotto happening in November, leaves both guys out of commission until Spring 2016, Cotto doesn't see the money in it to even bother with the fight, Oscar is going to steer Canelo towards at least the Lemeiux fight before even considering the fight, with Golovkin being 34).

Trinidad was a middleweight champion. Hell even Oscar had a belt and he challenged Bernard. In order for Hopkins to unify the division he had to fight these guys. Hopkins didn't make anyone come up to him they came to him and were already there. Trinidad beat Joppy for a MW title and Oscar got the decision over Sturm.



Likewise, Golovkin is trying to unify HIS OWN division. Cotto is lineal middleweight champion and WBC title holder, you know the belt Golovkin is mandatory to. Of course it's only natural for Golovkin to want the belts in his own weight class (isn't that the point of boxing?). Canelo's last three fights have technically been at middleweight and we all know he's eventually going to campaign at 160, the only question is when. As for a Floyd fight, that's just a dream fight, everyone wants Floyd (even Ward). Who doesn't say they would like to fight Mayweather and earn career high paydays?




How do you duck a guy that isn't in your own weight class? A guy who wasnt even fighting for two years and just made his comeback? That's like saying Ward has been ducking Kovalev.

Golovkin will go to 168 for a decent payday (Chavez Jr, Froch) but Ward can't draw flies.

Andre Ward is a selfish prima donna who will demand home advantage so he can use a crooked California referee who will permit him to head butt and clamp Golovkin's arms all night.

Ward needs to be a man and fight Kovalev in the fall. Kovalev knows how to avoid head butts now, having fought Agnew and Hopkins, and he's too strong for Ward to hold.
