  • If Mayweather feels none of the other top welterweight deserves a shot because they are all avoiding each other and fighting bums then why not just retire. Instead he fights a bum that is even less deserving and who was baby'd more then any of the guys out to day. How many garbage fights did Berto have before he finally got his hype train derailed by Victor Otriz? What has he done to deserve this fight?

The real problem is Haymon is forcing all the other welterweights he has signed to fight bums at the same time promising all of them the next Mayweather fight. Anybody who thinks these guys have a choice in who they fight when Thurman admitted in the weeks leading up to his sham of a fight with Collazo that he never wanted to fight him and that he only did so because Haymon gave him a list with one name for who he had to fight next and it was Collazo. If not for Haymon and the promise of Mayweather those guys would all be fighting each other. Instead we got this game of keep away with everyone trying to back into a fight with Mayweather. It's disgusting and only hurts boxing.

Exactly, this is what I don't understand.

Mayweather has beaten all the guys he's scared of, he's made all the money.

His last fight is simply to fulfil his contract and an easy farewell fight and sailing off into the sunset.

The talks of this some how damaging his legacy is hilarious and very wishful thinking.

Mayweather could fight me or you and he will still go down as the best fighter of this era and one of the ATG's. And they hate it.

I really dont think so. When we the (hardcore) fans look back in time and remember the late greats of the sport we remember the fights they were in and WHO they fought and when they fought them.

You wont get that with Floyd. People will remember the lack luster fights. The waste of money PPV's that never lived up to the hype. The drama. The lies. The cherry picking. And the words that came out of his mouth will never go away. The ignorance. The arrogance.

The networks boost his name up because its their job to do so. He makes them money. That will be over with soon. Then they will be talking about a new fighter and Floyd like Calzaghe will be a distant memory.

Already had this conversation with you.

You can wish it as much as you want but it's not going to happen.

Get used to it because Floyd's legacy will only be looked at better as time goes on.

              • I got a strange feeling there is some shady business behind Floyd's career and once he retires, somebody is gonna talk. Don't know who and don't know when but that's the way I feel.

                  • It makes sense now, Dan Rafael tweeted out the TV ratings for the CBS fight this weekend and it bombed. Terrible ratings. So far 3 of the 4 PBC on CBS fights have failed to even Crack 1mil viewers. PBC investors probably the ones forking over the money to pay Mayweather to fight on CBS to help the struggling ratings. The question is after this fight does he still owe one more fight to showtime? Or since they are affiliated with CBS does this fulfill his contract? Either way he is fighting again. He has not vacated his belts like he said he would and Ellerbe complained about the one belt being stripped and given to Bradley. He is too close to 50 to retire. This Berto bum fight looks like a payback to Haymon to try and help PBC. After this he is going back to PPV.
