Not the opponent I wanted. I was hoping for Cotto for the MW title or GGG @ 154, then Thurman @ 147 or Lara @ 154. If this is his last fight, it's a better last opponent then a lot of ATG HOF'ers. Look at who Duran, Leonard, hearns, chavez and others fought in their last bouts.

IMO since it's a an easy fight "on paper" my guess is this isn't his last fight and he picked Berto to keep his record unblemished so the 50th fight has some added buzz.

Looks like CBS/Floyd are trying to get on the "excitement" bandwagon by taking on an opponent that Floyd should defeat easily, registering his 1st KO since Ortiz.

As a Floyd fan, I'm going to watch. I am happy I do not have to pay between $75-100 for it.

$30-35 million to fight Andre Berto on CBS. Wow.

You dudes don't get it. Floyd fans don't care. We are done. His career is over and we have moved on and are looking forward to the next generation of fighters. Nobody is in defense mode. We just don't give a ****. You guys are in denial mode because he is going to retire undefeated and you're bitter about it.

His most bitter haters seem to be the one's who are obsessed with him sticking around longer and continuing to fight on. While his fans can't wait to see him retire so that fights can be made at 147.

        Precisely.

If Floyd had just fought Khan instead of Pacquaio and is now fighting Berto I would understand.

But he's just beat Pacquaio. He's beat the guy he will never fight and is scared to death of and the other guy of his era and P4P #2.

There's nothing left for Floyd. Like LarryX ever so eloquently put it; "Floyd can fight the MGM Janitor for all I care"

          Exactly.

I can't wait for him to retire. Literally can't wait.

Then all the belts are free and everyone won't be waiting on Floyd.

Time for the new breed to take over. All the old guard are on their last legs.

Floyd shouldn't even still be the King at age 38.

What people are doing is understanding that it is a farewell fight. Fufilling the last fight on his contract with an easy swan song of a fight before he rides off into the sunset. If his contract was 5 fights and not 6, he wouldn't be having this fight.

He's already beaten everybody, he's beaten all the guys he's been asked to. 13 time world champion in 5 weight classes, beaten 10 #1 ranked fighters, numerous P4P fighters, made all the money, headlined the 3 biggest PPV's ever.

He literally has nothing left to do or prove.

Hence, the farewell fight to finish his contract. For free no less.

              That's if this does happen.

And also, people talked about this fight before Floyd mentioned it.

I really don't see what's so difficult to grasp about the scenario. I could understand the criticism if he hadn't fought Pacquiao, but guess what? He just did, and showed quite easily that he's a level above. That's it. Nothing left to prove.

Any of those fights would be better than Berto though, If this Berto story is true its a terrible fight no matter what channel they show it on. I see people saying "well its free", but who really cares? They'd have a hard time getting people to watch that trash if they were paying them to watch.

You couldn't be further from the truth. I was with a group of girls last night and boxing came up. They are excited about Floyd/Berto because they can't wait to see the tea that Berto exposes about Floyd's relationships.

This fight isn't for you, me or anybody else. It's an exhibition and it will do good ratings. Move on.

                    I mean look at this:

Screw the vegetables and protein shakes, Floyd Mayweather is LETTING HIMSELF GO for his fight with Andre Berto -- stuffing himself with ice cream and cake during training camp ... TMZ Sports has learned.

The guy is eating 30 different desert plates during training. The dude is retired and just finishing out his contract so he doesn't leave any money on the table.
