  • Why does all the fanboys always try and get everyone's validation for his accomplishments. You guys always try and push his greatness on everyone. Is he a great fighter, absolutely, is he one of the best or the best of his generation, absolutely, does he have question marks in his career, absolutely. But who cares he's a great fighter just like past greats. Can he beat some great fighers of the past, absolutely, can he lose to some of the great fighters of the past, absolutely.

Anyway you slice it he's great. But thinking he could lose to past great figher doesn't lower him as a fighter in my mind. I could care less who he can beat and who he can't. All I know he is great.

    • Without question the best of his generation. No one and I mean no one has been able to figure him out. And ALMOST don't count at the end of each fight his hand has been raised.

      • No. It's not.....

Floyd Mayweather is a great fighter. Is he one of the greatest fighters I ever seen? Nope. He started out as one of my favorite until he became his own boss. Then the FREAK show began. Boxing is about fighting the best. It's not about picking on the B Level guys and try and make it like you just beat an A Level guy. That's what Floyd has done since reaching his prime. His best win will remain Chico. The Cotto win was a good win and legacy win. Cotto is an A Level fighter. The Hatton win as well. Hatton was a B Level fighter. The Canelo win would've been the biggest of his career, but he blew it with the catch weight. It's one of the worse draining of a fighter I have ever seen. I feel the same about Manny's win over Hoya. Those guys were DEAD men walking in the ring. He lost the first Castillo fight without a doubt. He struggled against Maidana in the first fight but dug deep to win. Maidana is another B Level guy. Floyd should've won easily. The rematch was ugly and Floyd fought like a paper champion. He won both fights though. Against Manny, in the biggest fight of his career, he clearly lost but was given the decision. He was out landed, out defensed, out countered, and he fought like a scared, rich, businessman. You used to have to take away a champion's belt in order to win a fight of that magnitude. Smh. In conclusion, Floyd is one of the greatest of his generation but not the greatest. You have to let your hands go and put on a show in the ring, as well as out of it. I consider him a HOF'mer but not an ATG. He blew that long ago. I would consider him an ATG if he beats a GGG or a Lara in his final fight. I can almost guarantee you that he won't though. Why? Because he is not built like past ATG's. He is a coward and paper champion for this. How can you call yourself the best, when you don't continually fight the best? You have to also be willing to fight ANYWHERE. ANYTIME. ANYPLACE. This diva like behavior of his, has affected all of boxing. From Cotto to Ward to Khan to Stevenson. Fighters are supposed to worry about fighting! Not all of this Aside, Bside, PPV View Numbers, how much another fighter is making, etc. Because guess what? If you take risks and fight the best, you WILL GET PAID!!!!

          • If floyd had fought pacquiao 5 years ago he would have won the same. The only reason it happened now was so they could hype up the fight and have a big pay day. That fight generated $200 million dollars. 5 years ago it would have been lucky to get half of that. No one can really say that floyd is waited for fighters to diminish because he diminished just the same. Look at him 5 years ago, he definitley was a more aggressive fighter. But he's 38 and beat fighters in their 20's like Canelo, Ortiz, and Maidana.

Floyd doesnt take the fights when he should. He should fight GGG at middleweight.
Being favourite against a guy smaller than you coming off of a ko to JMM doesnt make you the best of a generation! Doing things the experts dont think you can do make you the best.
Floyd is a businessman, and by that you cant be the best of a generation.
Floyd is always in his comfort zone, and not taking risks, in trying to make people realize he is better than people think. People made Lacy favourite against JC, so being made favourite dont mean nothing. Has Floyd ever been favourite against someone as good as JC? He has, Pac, but Pac is smaller than Floyd. Time for Floyd to beat someone people dont think he can. Then we can all say Floyd is better than even i thought he was.
Floyd is the betting favorite in every fight. If he fought GGG at 154 or middleweight he would still likely be the betting favorite.

If you don't think the Oscar fight was a risk, the Canelo fight, the Mosley fight, the Cotto fight, the Pac fight then you don't know what the hell you're talking about. Canelo was one of Floyd's closest spreads in Vegas. Floyd went up to 154 to fight Oscar and succumbed to all of Oscar's requests. He fought #3 p4p Mosley when all welters were ducking Mosley. He fought Cotto at 154 when Cotto was more acclimated to the weight class. He fought the #2 p4p Pac that was almost a 50/50 Vegas spread. What the HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!?!?!?!

Why would you ask him to do something if you're not going to give him credit?

You have the same logic as women. You say one thing and mean another thing.

You need to reconsider your ****** ass opinions and maybe realize that you are bias. You would realize that your own definition of greatness encompasses Floyd. He did something nobody thought he would do: remain undefeated while spanning 5 weight classes, earning 4 lineal titles beating over 6 top 10 p4p fighters, and making a legit case to be one of the best to ever do it.

I don't anybody thought Floyd was going to be THIS good when he was in the ams.

My problem with Floyd and his fans is how to try to revision history.

They want to pretend Maidana wasn't a huge underdog and a guy that was shut out by Kotelnik and Alexander.

Both Manfredy and Hernandez was average but so many fans act like these guys were ATG.

Many of his opponents where somehow added to the pound for pound list right before he fought them (Canelo and Guerreroe.) and try to claim his beating lb for lb guys. But real boxing fans know better. Politics and corruption has helped his career.

The number his fans use are just that, numbers.

I Agree. Us REAL boxing fans know how to put things in proper perspective.

Yeah he chose his opponents after chasing the big names and fighting for lineal titles since 1998.....dude wasn't even a big name until 2005 and didn't pick his opponents until 2009....were you even following boxing back then??? ODLH called the shots, was the cash cow and cherry picked....Mayweather was trying to prove himself

Nobody wanted to fight a prime Mayweather and he still has a better resume than anyone you'd try to dig up
Its pointless...its comical that on one hand, these morons will say no one wants to fight GGG, because of the risk isn't worth the money involved. Mayweather was in this position and calling out big names constantly..he was too dangerous and did not command dollars.....now that he is in position of everyone calling him out, he is not allowed to do what others did before and will continue to do after him.....hands down best fighter of his generation
