i think bradley is the best opponent for september, if haymon and arum can work together again. bradley is already the finished article and can't be retrospectively written off after floyd beats him. brook only has one top win, porter has two or three good wins, and thurman and khan only have mediocre wins at welterweight. for all we know, brook and thurman could turn out no better than guerrero and ortiz, two wins that mayweather gets no credit for whatsoever

      Brook
      Bradley
      Alexander
      Porter

All are more proven and gave fought better opposition than Keith Thurman.
He will fight Spence. Collazo was the only name given to him by Al Haymon this time. Thurman just said he's a yes man, and he'd take the fight.

Thurman is widely seen as the most dangerous welterweight in the division and the response from Mayweather has been "he's too green", "here, fight Spence", and now from Ellerbe "he's not a big enough name".

        Entirely predictable.
        His career is over.

The coward has fought and beaten all the guys he's scared of.

One more farewell fight and its over. Thurman isn't even on the radar.

Spence hasn't beaten anyone in the top 15 at welterweight yet. Why would Thurman fight Spence at this stage? It's a classic no win situation. Everytime Thurman beats someone who people were saying is a step up, the win gets discredited afterwards.

I don't have a problem with the fight but Thurman needs to stop acting like he deserves the fight cause he doesn't
First of all Thurman cant force the top 5 guys to want to fight him, he has called out everyone. The only top 5 guy that i think would sign to fight him no questions is Tim Bradley but Arum/Haymon wont let that happen. Also Mayweather is talking about retiring after September so it is now or never to try to make the fight happen, there is no time left for him to "earn" his shot. Furthermore, the guys that Floyd is talking about fighting (i.e. Berto, Mayfield, Khan) absolutely have not done enough to earn a shot at the fight.

The level of Floyd nut hugging in this thread is epic. If you think Floyd can pick whoever he wants to fight that is fine. But saying Thurman has'nt earned it is just ignorant beyond belief. The guy has essentially been Floyd's mandatory for 2 ****ing years. Call me crazy, but is'nt that the very definition of earning your shot in boxing?

If you want to talk resumes. Outside of Bradley, Keith's resume is on par, at welterweight, with any other fighter in the division that Floyd could/should fight in September. Thinking Guerrero is his best win just shows the lack of knowledge some "fans" have when Robert is like Keith's 3rd or possibly 4th best win. Lets also not forget the way in which he has won. The guy has destroyed everyone he has fought. He gets **** for the Bundu fight while 120ing the guy.

As for his poularity. The guy has'nt hit superstar status, but he does have a good fan base that is growing with every fight. You really think Haymon would have him headline the inaugural PBC event and the ESPN event in his hometown if the guy was'nt a draw? Khan would be the only guy in the welterweight division that might outdraw Keith in a Mayweather PPV at this time and I'm not even certain of that.

What does beating Spence prove? He's an absolute nobody who has beaten absolutely nobody.

It's the last thing most would expect. It's really the only fight that has potential to outsell or even approach the last stinker he was involved in and I doubt it's Berto (insert other no-hoper if you prefer). Finally, nobody likes to be predictable.

Mind you, I'm not declaring that this is 100% what I think is gonna' happen, but it would surprise me less than it would have a few weeks ago.

There is less than 1% chance of that fight happening.
