How can Canelo be the legitimate 154 champion when the only belt he won at 154 was the "b*tch" version of the WBC belt? Floyd had the real WBC belt and Trout had the "normal" one which he won with open scoring in Texas. That's not legitimate in anyway lmfao. Cotto was the man at 140, the man at 147, the man at 154 and the man 160. Canelo has only been the man at 155.
GGG beating Canelo is like beating himself. A guy with 1 or 2 good wins and a whole bunch of hype. The difference is GGG hasn't struggled with anyone and Canelo struggles against any who even remotely boxes. But, feel free to fall into the hype train again it'll make that much better when it derails again.
As for Cotto being 'the man' at 140, 147, 154 and 160, I've never seen more misinformed comment in my life. He was 'the man' at 140 and 147 for a period of time, but he took ruthless beatdowns from Margarito and Pacquiao, both at 147.
154?! 2 L's to Trout and Mayweather.
160? Not one victory at the full limit aside from a one-legged 40-year-old.
Hardly 'the man' is he?

You don't compile stats like that as an amateur then go on to the kind of success GGG has achieved in his pro career so far - fighting mostly away from home - without knowing how to look after yourself against top opponents.

GGG has never been in trouble as a pro and although I think Ward would be favourite to outbox him, I doubt he'd hurt him.

Canelo lost to Floyd too, and it was Floyd easiest fight in his career, Cotto was his toughest. By Floyd's own admission, it's on video go watch. He didn't do well against Trout but Canelo didn't do much better lol and since then, one guy has gotten visibly better and it isn't Canelo.
Why are you ****ting on Cotto wins at MW? Canelo fighting at 155 qualifies him as a MW. Cotto's faced 2 MW's while Canelo has yet to face one. It doesn't matter what weight Cotto has fought them at, he's fought 2 MW's in the MW division. Canelo has yet to do even do that once.

Anyone who believe Cotto has/is 'the man' at 160 is delusional. Even without the Floyd fights, he got outboxed by Trout at 154 and his best win at middleweight is a catchweight fight against a one-legged 40-year-old.
I actually like Cotto. I just dislike fanboys who are blinded by their fanatacism and can't look at the cold, hard facts: 2 knockout defeats at 147, 2 losses at 154 and a victory over a shot Martinez at 160.
As for Cotto being Floyd's toughest fight, I'd take his words with a pinch of salt. Maidana, Castillo and De La Hoya certainly looked tougher to me.

He lost twice at 147, one to Margarito which he avenged and the other to 2nd best figher on the planet at the time. He lost to Floyd, yes, in his toughest fight of his career. I'm supposed to take your word about who was tougher instead of the guy actually in the ring? ****ing L O L!!! Again.
Why would I care if you like Cotto or not. The fact is he is the better than Canelo because of what he did against Floyd. Canelo won 1 or 2 more rounds against Trout than Cotto did, that's really not a big deal. Against Floyd Cotto won 4 or 5 rounds more than Canelo and each one was close and competitive except he final two. You can't even say about one round for Canelo. You can't really **** on the Martinez win no matter how hard you try.
Cotto beat a champion above 154, Canelo has yet to do that but you're calling Cotto fans delusional? You think beating Lara, is better than beating Sergio Martinez? It's obvious you're just a new fan to boxing and that's fine, your ignorance will be gone soon enough and you'll Canelo be exposed yet again while underestimating Cotto. But really, talk about the MW when your favorite fighter fights a MW, mmkay?

"Lineal MW champion" is a term that can be used loosely. Martinez was beaten by Murray 14 months earlier and gifted a decision. He then had reconstructive knee surgery and came back as a washed up 40-year-old to collect his pension. Truth be told, he'd been declining for quite a few years as he struggled with the likes of Barker.
If he lost to Pacquiao and Margarito at 147, do you accept he wasn't "the man"? I'm going off what I see and what the judges saw, not what Floyd says. Floyd, as well as a lot of other fighters regularly contradict themselves and often say people were 'tpugh' out of respect.
So now onto Cotto being better than Canelo because he performed better against Floyd. New to boxing you say? Well anyone with a shred of knowledge will tell you styles make fights and A>B>C just doesn't apply to boxing. Is George Groves better than Andre Ward because he knocked Paul Smith out faster?
Is he f**k.
You really are clutching at straws when you're talking about a few rounds against common opponents. And what's even more hilarious is that (ignoring the freak 114-114 card), the judges actually had the Canelo-Floyd fight slightly closer! Not that it was, but Canelo won at least 1 round and to say Cotto won 4 or 5 more implies he deserved a draw against Floyd? Is that what you're saying?
FYI, I can, and have, shat all over that 'Martinez' victory. I use inverted commas as the only thing that resembled Martinez in that ring, and in the Murray fight, was his physical appearance.
Finally Canelo isn't even close to being my favourite fighter -he's had a few oddgy wins including Lara and Trout. But the versions of Lara and Trout he beat were certainly better opponents than a disabled Sergio Martinez.
Anyone with a brain knows the real MW champion is GGG and he'd absolutely obliterate Cotto a la Margarito I, but in a faster, more barbaric fashion.
