Was Willie Pep a running coward?

Can't you see the clear difference in what Willie Pep did and what Floyd does? Pep moved a lot but exchanged. Floyd would run, grab when he gets caught. Floyd would not exchange. If he misses he grabs and hold. If his opponent attacks he grabs.
Nothing like that on that video.Comment

Ray making sense for once.Pep's a coward as much as Floyds a puncher!
Floyd uses his defensive abilities to survive!
Pep used his defensive skills to "hit and not get it"!
He through combinations Floyd throws one punch at a time for years now.
Pep would exchange Floyd NEVER punches with his opponents.
Floyd picks his own opponents and is capable of stopping some of them but he prefers to be safe and "spars" instead of "close the fight"!
Floyd Mayweather "isn't a pimple on Pep's azz"!
I can tell you this Larry you could never call Pep a coward to his face
you could never call Pep a coward to my face either !!

You are literally delusional.
You're the one who brought up grammar in the Broner thread. I just took the p*ss out of you because you tried to be the grammar police whilst spelling grammar wrong
You've never "defeated" me in any Boxing debate except in your tiny deluded mind.
Let's be honest I think almost anyone will agree I've forgotten more about Boxing than you will ever know.Comment

Thats the reason why he wont be on top of Duran/SRL He's known as a great defensive fighter, the other guys are well rounded fighters.
Willie Pep did have a boring style, but let his hands go, and consistently stayed in range to evade punches.
Boxers of today run around the ring thinking it's some great skill they're displaying, while all they're actually doing is running.Comment

Yes willie pep was a runner, coward no. Fighters are not cowards. There is many styles of boxing. But the hit and not be hit can be puzzling because people say it's a boxing style. A fighter can hit and then run to not get hit and people say he's just boxing. No I don't think so, he just running But when i think of a real hit and not hit type boxer I think of James Toney. Toney can stay in the pocket and not run and he can be hard to hit. He would slip your punch, shoulder roll you to make you miss or whatever moves he had then counter off that. That's true boxing.Comment

Well said.
It's the hugging games that's just garbage fighting. That's Floyd's avenue. Pep isn't that.
Clinching coz a fighter gets tangled up is fine, clinching coz you need to catch your breath is fine, but hugging to block a punch or an exchange from ever happening is just simply.. Pathetic.
Here's video evidence of his cowardly tactics. Enjoy. Hugging to block an encounter is just not what boxing is about buddy. If it wasn't floyd he would have been D'Q'd. But he owns vegas so it's fine.
