i remember when people used to say hoya lost the trinidad fight because he ran the last 3 rounds. now people do that for 12 rounds and its a boxing masterclass. or they just clinch for 12 straight rounds thats also a boxing masterclass. the only thing thats not a boxing masterclass is knocking people out. thats cave man sh-it.

I was saying that Larry was suggesting that the two would be, as you say, "boring runners". The point I was making is not just that Willie Pep's style is different, but also that it doesn't fall into the ether of "boring runner".

The vast majority of Floyds fights did/do not have that much clinching. Really not sure where this came from. Off the top of my head Maidana II and Hatton were the worst, all Hattons fights had clinching because he was mauler type, and at 37 yo Mayweather did what he had to do vs Maidana.
