Floyd should fight Golovkin in September.

All I know is, when the Ward fight happens, I'm betting the farm on Ward. Easiest money anybody makes on this board. GGG will be so hyped up by the time the fight happens, I'd be surprised if the odds weren't at least even.

        Backtracking now, nice!

Moving up a weight class to fight Ward in a high profile fight certainly should warrant a good split of the purse. No one is saying Golovkin would/should have got the majority, just a fair split, being that Golovkin is one of boxings biggest names. Nothing wrong with that a all. Now, if there were actual negotiations and Golovkin walked away from an offer that would be a different scenario, however as you know no negotiations ever took place, there was never a purse % split discussed, no money was on the table, basically nothing ever happened.

The Ward fight is a fight that's going to happen. People seem to unfairly criticize Golovkin for not fighting Ward when Ward wasn't fighting anyone, he wasn't even sure if he'd return to the sport (his words). Now that Ward is back, and appears to be staying put at 168, this fight is going to go down. Ward is going to look for another soft touch (but better than Smith) and Golovkin will try one or two more times to unify/get Canelo/Cotto/whomever, and if that happens or not eventually soon here he'll meet Ward. Be patient it's going to happen.

Back when Abel Sanchez said the fight didn't make financial sense GGG was still unknown to everybody except hard-core boxing fans, and Ward, who was never a big draw anyway, had been forgotten.

The most GGG had earned for a fight - as the A side - was $750,000. Ward was asking for $2million to fight tune ups, and would have wanted a lot more for GGG.

So, even if GGG had fought for free, there wouldn't have been enough money in the fight to pay Ward's wages alone.

I thought ok, cool, they don't want to throw him in with Ward yet cos he's young and there's time but what the hell are they waiting for?

You're saying I'm ****** but I'm just quoting what Tom Loeffler said when asked if they would fight Ward shortly after Ward beat Rodriguez. "Gennady would need a huge chunk of the money, it doesn't make financial sense" - I just don't understand what he had ever done to deserve that lofty status and why they think they will only consider PPV for some fights. Who do they think they are?
No, he's calling you ****** for everything you've been saying in this thread.

what a broken record. here i am thinking you had sense..

No...that just wasn't the point of my argument but you're down to scoring minor points now so I'll let you have that one.

There were no negotiations because Golovkin's team took a **** on the fight before there could be any. Saying they needed it to be PPV and they wanted a large chunk of the purse. Andre Ward had earned his right and was, at the time, drawing higher ratings than Golovkin on HBO.

Again....I don't know what they had done or what they've even done now to feel so entitled.

Ward had just done huge ratings fighting Edwin Rodriguez. Golovkin had just KOed Stevens. It was there to be made if Team GGG were willing to yield a little. They weren't.

So back to the Lacy comparison - Lacy didn't make any such demands, he went over as an actual world champion to England to face Calzaghe after just 21 fights. Golovkin's people, even at 30+ years old weren't willing to risk their investment in him.

Is that when Ward demanded of Ggg to make the A sider Ward an offer lol. GGG career high was 400k, Ward had just made 2m for a tune-up. That's called feigning interest, esp if you say no to HBO while the other guy says yes

Ward didn't do huge ratings vs ERod, it was good but not 3m license fee good. Regardless it's not about the GGG purse, its mostly about Wards and who's willing to pay for it. Even Roc Nation doesn't wanna go there, they also feel it doesn't make financial sense as does Wards trainer. Really Ward needs to get his team on the same jpage, provided he really wants it

I wouldn't compare Lacy and GGG. Lacy didn't not have devastating power by any means, nor did he look all that intelligent in the ring.

GGG packs some intelligence with his power in the way he shifts and cuts the ring off to deliver his power punches. Lacy was just a mess and for the most part I found his fights boring.

GGG has been wrecking everyone in dominating ways in which Lacy was never known for, but he's also getting towards the tip of his prime years and needs to make moves soon. By the time GGG fights a big name, it won't be that he was exposed, but just...old.

Lacy on the other hand you can say was exposed because he was young and peaking when he faced Calzaghe and basically got destroyed.

Nope it was when Golovkin's people said that Gennady would need a "huge chunk" of the purse and would need it to be on PPV to fund the fight. If they were confident about winning the fight, they take a small chunk and win.

Andre Ward earned the right to make those kinds of demands. GGG hadn't done **** and still hasn't. Like I said, it shocked me when I found out he was 33 years old. Time is running out for him to be any more remembered than Jeff Lacy is.

Didn't look that way to me at all. The video was too blurry to actually see the score but I scored it for Bute up until the KO...BTW I'm not a GGG hater...I'm a big fan.
