So, you are saying GGG should take less money and move up in weight to fight Ward?
    That's what you are saying?

hating andre ward has become one of the board's top activities.

      the hatred sustains us.

They painted themselves into a corner with time restraints. Originally this fight was going to be made in May on the Alvarez/Kirkland undercard, but Lemieux's former promoter named HBO on his frivolous lawsuit. HBO has a policy they want involve themselves with anything that could get them in legal trouble, regardless of how sound the lawsuit is. GB was hoping it would be resolved quickly but when it wasn't they ran out of time with IBF to stage the fight. June 20th was the latest possible and by then HBO's schedule was set. GB lost out on alot of money because of that. Also by then FS1's schedule was also set.

Additionally from what I hear, spring/summer time in Montreal is a bad time for boxing. You look at Bute when he was major star there, he only ever fought in Montreal during the summer/spring one time - Bika. But I think Lemieux's next fight in Montreal, whether it's Eamon O'kane or Heiland or Johnson will be a big fight.

Hating on a guy who rarely fights, overprices himself and fights bums like rodriguez and smith is reasonable. And some of you guys say he is p4p number

he doesnt have to, i posted earlier that i understand if he doesnt do it, but this happens sometimes when fighters seek for challenges, and by the way im not implying that he should take less than ward, but he might end up taking similar or a bit less than fighting a guy like tureano who will be paid peanuts... just an example: canelo took significantly less money for a lara fight than an angulo fight, he even gave lara a small pct of the ppv and had to paid step aside to ishe smith... but again i dont expect boxers to do this all the time... and im aware that lara and canelo are on the same division unlike ward and ggg...

Those are all same division fights. Fighting Tureano is a same division fight for which he will make the same money as he would fighting Ward in an out of division fight on regular HBO, if he is lucky. It also allows GGG to take care of a future rival. He might actually get less fighting Ward on regular HBO due to Ward's demands.

For some reason, fans have gotten this idea that unless a fighter wins titles at multiple weight classes he can never be considered a top quality, elite fighter and that is a total bullshit idea with no valid basis.

Fighting Ward does absolutely nothing to advance Golovkin's goal of unification. It is for financial purposes only. And don't even think of bringing the word 'legacy' into the discussion. Legacy is something fighters should think about when they are old and grey and telling fight stories to their grand kids. It makes no difference to a fighter's retirement fund. All it does is give fans bragging rights. Big ****ing deal.

lest not forget the other hatee, Miguel cotto. Between the two this place is a virtual cesspool. Must be a roc nation hate by an army of al haymon minions. Whatever, keep it moving, while I watch the next sacrifices; cotto kills canelo and ward operates on GGG.

The same thing they said about Mayweather when he was on the way up. Look at him now. Skills will always outweigh hype.

Mayweather always had a decent sized fanbase. Sure, no one thought he would be THIS big but he was a headline. If what you said was true Rigondeaux wouldn't be having these problems.
