it's really a shame too. i don't know how/why you'd hate Ward. The guy does not carry himself like adrien broner or naseem hamed, yet a certain group of ppl still want to hate him.

i guess it comes with the territory. the greater you are, the more haters you accumulate.

keep hating guys, andre will be ppv level in no time.

    • Too bad - even though I thought Smith wasn't going to offer much, I still thought it was a good showing by Ward. I was entertained by how methodical he was.

LOL, no kidding. I'm actually surprised the fight did those numbers because it was on BET. I had to look up on the guide what channel that was and I pass by it nearly every day.

He comes off as if he is too good for people. Like he is owed something. He isn't an A-side and is far too inactive to be considered a top boxer. If he would be more active and not act like he can dictate all aspects of negotiation, then he would be alright in my book. Dude thinks everyone must oblige him but in reality, it's he who should be doing everything and anything to land a meaningful fight.

Well said. it cannot be put any better or clearer than that.

Networks wouldn't pick up the fight because of the contractual dispute over Lemiux's promotion.

I don't get the "he's too good for people" vibe. He gets a lot of love in his hometown. He seems like a clean cut, family oriented, well spoken young man.

He's the complete opposite of Adrien Broner, who people despise.

Maybe your dislike of him is strictly personal.

I agree that he needs to do whatever he can to land a big fight. At the same time lets not keep acting like he's done nothing in the sport.

He literally cleared his division out a few years ago, and followed that up with beating the top dog at 175. Albeit the fight was at 168.

Andre Ward has put in work for a long time now. He's done much more in the sport than GGG.

So GGG is allegedly the bigger draw, cool. Andre still has to be respected at the negotiation table. Lets not forget something: GGG is less proven, yet he's 2 years older than Andre.

Where was GGG when Andre was beating Abraham and Kessler?

GGG is still a fighter on the rise, but he's not there yet.

Ward has put in nothing at all for the past almost two years. He has less fights than GGG does and his only claim to fame is the Super Six tournament that he was fortunate to be invited to participate in.

GGG was in Germany getting screwed over by his promoter and stuck in promoter hell trying to get out of his contract with a promoter who refused to get him any major fights. (As opposed to suing a promoter who got you carte blanche in the Super Six Tournament.)

You would think a Ward fan would appreciate that, wouldn't you?

Oh, so it's excusable for GGG to have legal issues, but not Ward?

Ward may not have set the boxing world on fire in the last two years, but his career spans longer than two years.

The fact is Ward has accomplished more than GGG on the amateur and professional level.

Daniel Geale and Kassim Ouma are the most notable names on his resume.

Beating Carl Froch alone overshadows GGG's entire professional career. Do you realize that?

GGG is supposedly the bigger draw. Cool. Let HBO work the numbers, pay GGG more, give Ward is respectable share and make the fight happen. No excuses.

Ward had a good run. He hurt that with his inactivity. A lot of good match ups passed him by. its like he retired. Even with his inactivity he wasnt marketing himself for bigger names or spot lights. Even if there were slim pickings in his weight class he should have stayed active and made waves. He went MIA.
