Andre Ward isn't going to fight Golovkin unless it is on HBO PPV and vice versa, HBO cannot push for Ward to do anything right now.

I'm partly making this about you because of your particular interpretation about what is being done. In reality neither of us are firmly in the know, we can only understand what is going on from what people are saying in the media and what all this may or may not imply. I'm saying your interpretation is not very plausible.

It is no about ideal situations, it is about the best available ones. I'm not saying Golovkin-Ward is necesssarily the first PPV for Golovkin, as I said i'm sure HBO are looking for the Canelo/Cotto winner for Golovkin but HBO doesn't just get exactly what they want, when they want it. I'm saying that the reason for Golovkin-Ward not happening any time soon is because Ward hasn't fought in ages and needs to build himself up, not because HBO fear Golovkin losing to him. Golovkin is 33 and has fought a string of less than exceptional opponents, not HBO, nor K2, nor Golovkin, nor GGG's fans, including myself, want to see Golovkin against the likes of Monroe, Rubio, Stevens, etc forever. Ward is potentially one of those big fights.
My interpretation is 100% plausible as it is how HBO has maneuvered its fighters for years. Easy fights until they get the big ones. 1st PPV against a big name in a fight that is very winnable. Its a sound strategy to build a fighters brand and protect the networks investment in him.

WHy would GGG be maneuvered any different than anyone else? Its cool to be a big GGG fan, but you can't escape the fact that his opponents have been poor quality and his network has steered him away from fighting a guy that prior to being out some had AHEAD of Floyd.

Would you want a guy who you invested so much in and who is getting great ratings to possibly get exposed by a dude who can only sell in the Bay Area and has not connected with mainstream fans despite all the exposure he's had?

I think its more about GGG losing than ward being out and cited reasons why. I can respect your opinion, just don't ignore how HBO has used its broadcast and the fight game show to do everything they can to take this fight off the table.

You may want to see ward/GGG, just like I want to see Floyd/ggg. Tat doesn't mean everyone, especially HBO wants that. Remember GGG is a relatively low paid employee that gets extremely high TV ratings.

Why would HBO risk him losing to a Ward now, when an undefeated GGG maximizes the revenues from a Cotto or Canelo fight?

To the Thread Starter - "You are dead to me" is a metaphor for basically saying I have no time for you, and don't want to know about you. Not "you are a dead man to me" which can be interpreted as a challenge or threat.

In terms of this whole situation, I wish everyone would stop getting excited and calm down. I hate these premature ejaculation topics on NSB, Ward has been inactive trying to sort out a promotional issue, I agree this is frustrating for fans but how frustrating do you think this is for Ward? He is losing valuable time in the prime of his career, for him to sacrifice that obviously the situation is very bad in his business relationship with his promoter. Not that I expect a bunch of kids to understand that. Neither of these guys are ducking each other, but if I was to make an educated guess, I would say that GGG's team have not been in a hurry to make this fight, and for good reason. GGG needs to establish his name, and secure a decent financial position before he gets thrown in against the guy who has beaten everyone in the division ABOVE and would most likely be the favourite to beat everyone at 175b too.

In terms of this fight, it will happen if both guys keep winning. To be honest there is no guarantee that GGG gets past guys like Canelo in his own weight class, so he should take those HUGE fights at 160 first and then try and jump in with Ward late next year. GGG is relatively unproven compared to someone like Ward so he needs to make some progressive steps, I know its been tough for him getting people in the ring with him but jumping 3 steps and sticking him in with Ward is massively risky, and they could end up cashing him out prematurely if he takes a big loss.

Ward has exposed Golovkin for the coward that he is.

Golovkin runs his mouth but he'd never fight Ward. Because he's a coward.

Cowards don't fight, they talk trash. Gennady Golovkin is a coward.

Must be nice to have your record protected by your network.

Let's hope the recent back and forth makes HBO push for the Ward v GGG fight. I think a lot of us would like to see it.
What is a closer, more fair fight? It's Kov v. Ward. Hahah Ward cleaned out his division four years ago after beating Froch, yet refuses to move up and fight the best.

GGG hasn't even gotten his paws on the best in his division yet. He needs to clean them out first before moving up.

GGG is marketable now, Ward has never been! Ward is to technical in methods if he took his athletetic abilities and used them offensively there would be more interest in him. Fighters like GGG who come out at the bell looking to trade are easily marketable because they are EXCITING!
Ward is NOT! Selling Mayweather these past 6 years as a "master boxer" a nice phrase for someone who refusses to add offense into his methods is one thing Floyd was already established as a headliner.
Ward needs to be active, he needs his second fight to be against a quality opponent. By his third fight he needs to be at 175 which is what he is!

The HBO comments that Gennady spoke of where true, Ward denied the offering. Its meaningless to talk about it then because he was unable to box oranges because of his contract mess!! He used GGG to keep his name active in the States and Froch to keep his name floating in Europe.
It doesn't sound like Ward is interested in boxing anymore and he's simply trying to make up for lost money.
I like the guy because he acts like a "human being" but he doesn't act like a busy fighter. To much "talking ****" too!

Ok ......... Forget Ward for now.

I'm liking RJJ's suggestion here and it would work out for GGG

                  they watch boxing matches.

european involvement in conversations involving andre ward emphasizes their insecurities.

All the **** talking going on now, plus an impressive win by Ward Saturday certainly helps this fight pick up steam. I also like the idea of these guys doing a co main event, hopefully both look impressive, a bit more **** talking, and maybe we will get the type of interest needed to get these guys in the ring. The problem as of now is two fold. Neither guy, and I stress neither, will do this fight for chump change. As of now they would have to fight for chump change considering the magnitude of the fight.

Both have to do their part to draw interest to the fight. Neither guy is ducking the other. Anyone who actually thinks one guy is somehow scared of the other is just hating.
