  • GGG to Ward: "You are a dead man to me!"

"Hey, Ward, wake up! Why are you talking trash about other people? Speak for yourself,” said Golovkin, 33, who was named the 2013 Ring Fighter of the Year.

“If you're trying to make a name for yourself by mentioning me to build up your own fight, then be a man about it and tell the truth. At our meeting with HBO they asked us whether we are ready to box. You know our answers - I said yes, you said no. You said something about your shoulder or promoter - I'm not interested in the reason, I only heard your ‘no.’ But you remember that HBO said then that they would need a long time to build-up the fight. Then what the f$ck are you talking about excuses?"

"If you do provocative attacks, do not even think that Loeffler [Gennady's K2 promoter] will buy into them. You haven't been interesting to anyone for a long time, so he will no longer engage in the promotion of your name. Go and build your own image. Although everyone already knows what you are, and because of this, they do not go to your fights."

"You shouldn't worry about who I'm going to box or have boxed. You, like the rest, were lucky with the Super Six tournament because you got your opponents by contract. And who are you fighting now? The fourth-fifth ranked fighters in England...If I say that I'm ready to box any middleweight and ready to rise to 168 for a big fight, then I am responsible for the words. And I have nothing left to discuss with you. As a man, you are dead to me."

Meanwhile, HBO is pushing Kov v Ward and doing everything they can to not make Ward v GGG most likely because they know Ward would not only beat GGG but humble him. As soon as HBO execs think GGG has the best chance to beat Ward, then they will push to make the fight.

Must be nice to have your record protected by your network.

Let's hope the recent back and forth makes HBO push for the Ward v GGG fight. I think a lot of us would like to see it.

Is it true that his Oakland fights don't sell out?

Yes. They are giving tickets away. There's a thread about it her in NSB.

Wrong hater. Lampley didn't have to read Ward's call-out to Golovkin at the Rubio fight. Max didn't have to ask Golovkin about Ward after the Monroe fight. They've discussed this as super fight numerous times.

The only person holding this fight back is Andre Ward with his self-imposed contract sit-out & ridiculous purse/opponent demands.

HBO protecting GGG from Ward? That's hilarious!

Ward was HBO's star name when GGG was nobody, or so they thought. But they kicked Andre out the door because he refused to fight anbody but cans.

And is GGG ever going to have a better chance of beating Ward than he has right now, when Andre has been inactive for 18 months?

You must know that none of this is true. Ward-GGG would likely have happened by now, and with Ward as the A-side, if Ward hadn't gone through the ridiculous nonsense of trying to get out of his promotional contract and therefore making himself inactive. If HBO are now pushing more for Ward-Kov rather than Ward-GGG, which may or may not be true, then it is likely because Ward may now be a light-heavyweight.

Last night Showtime was showing CLASSIC FIGHTS and one of their Classic fights was Ward vs Bika. Kinda goes to show how long it's been since the super six.
