Just in this case because Stevonson is a 37 years old late bloomer and he has just one belt while Kovalev has three. So in this situation Kovalev cannot be ignored by them and Adonis is just older and older anyways so in case I think Hymon would let him fight Kovalev.
Duva and HBO are crying about the pursue bid because Kovalev has a deal with HBO but get the fuck out of here with that excuse.
How is that legal if a network deal blocks pursue bids? It's on the way of free competition, it's against it.
That's the way of things, if you have a pursue bid then bid for it, licit for it don't bitching about it and point fingers that "he has a network deal doe".
Pursue bids > network deals, or at least it should be this way.

pbc wouldn't allow stevenson to fight on hbo. neither side is against the fight happening, they just want it to be on their network. stevenson's team pulled a pr coup by flexing their financial muscles, but if the shoe were on the other foot and main events/hbo had outbid gym/pbc, they would have had to do the same thing that main events did

i agree that network deals should not interfere with the mandates of the sanctioning bodies. it's bull**** and would never happen in another sport

Sergey "Krusher" Kovalev (27-0-1) recently held a press conference to announce his July 25th fight against Nadjib Mohammedi that takes place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The fight will be televised by HBO and be the first fight under his recent contract extension with the premium cable channel.

Sergey Kovalev will fight Mohammedi next, and then have two bum fights to fill the rest of the year, all because he refused to push for the Stevenson fight when everything in boxing was aligned to make that fight.

Actually they're talking about the Pascal rematch in the latter part of this year.

Stevenson, after trying to make the Kovalev fight which Team Krusher backed out on, will likely fight Edwin Rodriguez in July/August, have the Fonfara rematch in the Fall, and then fight Jean Pascal/Lucian Bute early next year.

Stevenson's next opponent is said to be Oosthuizen.

Kovalev is a coon, he knows exactly that the fight rn isn't happening because of his daddies in HBO not because Stevenson and he knows exactly that the fight won't take place anytime soon so he can talk from safety and pretend that still Stevenson and Haymon are the cause why the fight doesn't happen.

HBO is just as like Haymon, neither is better than the other. Bot are scared of each other and don't want to match their fighters against the others' fighters.

Going forward, Kovalev is facing nothing but **** fights, especially if Ward gets down to 172 easy and decides to still campaign at super middleweight (waiting on Golovkin, Gilberto Ramirez, giving Abraham a rematch, and whatever other fights open up for him).

Stevenson has the lineal championship, has the bigger fights to look forward too and, if we're honest, is in a position to generate significantly more money for his next handful of fights, regardless of if Kovalev ever steps in with him.

HBO will present Kovalev as this wrecking machine, in fights against no-hopers, with Main Events hoping against hope that 1)Ward moves up to 175 soon and 2)HBO actually ponies up the money for the fight, while Stevenson fights with the lineal championship at the weight, across significantly bigger stages than the one offered by HBO, in far more meaningful fights.

I'd hold off on that king talk.

Dude you cannot knock Kovalev, he beat Cleverly, Hopkins and Pascal! Let's be honest here, he is the king of the division not Stevenson. Kovalev won't fight on another nextwork, he wants Stevenson but it has to be on HBO. Don't go saying s*** like Kovalev backed out of a fight with Stevenson, everyone including you knows better.

I'm criticizing Kovalev for putting the security of a "fight four bums a year on HBO" contract over taking the fight with Stevenson, the very title that he's been goading the man for and disparaging the man in public in regards to.

Kovalev was going to fight his IBF mandatory before the proposed Stevenson fight anyway.

Kovalev was declared Stevenson's mandatory challenger, and until the WBC declares a new mandatory challenger, since Kovalev punked out, Stevenson will fight names ranked in the WBC's top 15.

Chilemba is with Main Events(Duva) and Beterbiev and Alvarez are both in-house fighters with GYM, so those fights won't be happening soon. (He'll probably rematch Andrezj Fonfara, the WBC's actual #2 challenger, though).

Still, none of that changes the reality that Kovalev has locked himself into two **** fights following the mandatory defense, which isn't all that good a fight in its own right.
