Whose fault is that? Stevenson is the one that didn't walk but ran to Showtime to avoid Kovalev, when a deal had been agreed upon. He knew in his heart he had zero chance against the Krusher. I would love to see the kryptonite dropped on his ass, Emanuel would be ashamed of Stevenson if he was still alive.

Showtime, in an attempt to bolster their boxing franchise, saw a fight that HBO was ready to air on the open market, ponied up the money for the fight, and Stevenson was able to make significantly more money for making the move, after HBO wouldn't commit to him with a longterm deal (Hopkins fight fell apart over B-Hop wanting a 75/25 split of the money, which Duva was glad to give up for the fight, which is another story).

Team Kovalev, seeing the Stevenson fight in the offing, decided to not only duck the fight, but chose to stick with HBO for LESS money than he could've picked up for taking on Stevenson (let alone the type of money Kovalev could've commanded as the WBC/WBA/IBF/WBO/Ring/IBO light heavyweight champion), while also only having crap fights to look forward to.

how **** justify that in their own mind is beyond me.

Dude you cannot knock Kovalev, he beat Cleverly, Hopkins and Pascal! Let's be honest here, he is the king of the division not Stevenson. Kovalev won't fight on another nextwork, he wants Stevenson but it has to be on HBO. Don't go saying s*** like Kovalev backed out of a fight with Stevenson, everyone including you knows better.

Going forward, Kovalev is facing nothing but **** fights, especially if Ward gets down to 172 easy and decides to still campaign at super middleweight (waiting on Golovkin, Gilberto Ramirez, giving Abraham a rematch, and whatever other fights open up for him).

Stevenson has the lineal championship, has the bigger fights to look forward too and, if we're honest, is in a position to generate significantly more money for his next handful of fights, regardless of if Kovalev ever steps in with him.

HBO will present Kovalev as this wrecking machine, in fights against no-hopers, with Main Events hoping against hope that 1)Ward moves up to 175 soon and 2)HBO actually ponies up the money for the fight, while Stevenson fights with the lineal championship at the weight, across significantly bigger stages than the one offered by HBO, in far more meaningful fights.

I'd hold off on that king talk.

Kovalev is a coon, he knows exactly that the fight rn isn't happening because of his daddies in HBO not because Stevenson and he knows exactly that the fight won't take place anytime soon so he can talk from safety and pretend that still Stevenson and Haymon are the cause why the fight doesn't happen.
HBO is just as like Haymon, neither is better than the other. Bot are scared of each other and don't want to match their fighters against the others' fighters.

except stevenson was going to fight u to unify the belts and ur promoter backed out after all the barking. im not a stevenson fan tho i do enjoy watchin him fight but im so tired of this they are scared of me narrative thats why u should like me but then when it comes time to make a fight the person who saying everyone is scared is the one not willing to get in the ring

that's true, which is why both sides are equally culpable in the fight not happening. you think dibella and haymon ever actually expected the fight to happen? the whole purse bid drama was just a bunch of posturing. for the fight to stand a chance of happening, the two promoters need to sit down with tv execs from both sides and hash it out. hbo nor pbc are going to let their attractions be whisked away without being compensated somehow

Just in this case because Stevonson is a 37 years old late bloomer and he has just one belt while Kovalev has three. So in this situation Kovalev cannot be ignored by them and Adonis is just older and older anyways so in case I think Hymon would let him fight Kovalev.
Duva and HBO are crying about the pursue bid because Kovalev has a deal with HBO but get the fuck out of here with that excuse.
How is that legal if a network deal blocks pursue bids? It's on the way of free competition, it's against it.
That's the way of things, if you have a pursue bid then bid for it, licit for it don't bitching about it and point fingers that "he has a network deal doe".
Pursue bids > network deals, or at least it should be this way.
