StubHub Center, Carson, California - Andrzej Fonfara (27-3, 16KOs) showed former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (48-2-1, 32KOs) bit off more than he could chew by returning from a 13th month layoff to face a true light heavyweight - which is divisions above Chavez's last weight class. Fonfara dominated, dropped Chavez hard in the ninth and he couldn't come out for the tenth.
Things did not start well for Chavez Jr., who was getting busted up with punches from Fonfara. By the fifth, both of Chavez's eyes were swelling up. Fonfara lost a point in the seventh for using his shoulder. He got things evened up when when he dropped a hard left hook in the ninth to drop Chavez hard. Chavez showed his heart, beating the count and fighting Fonfara toe to toe intil the bell.

How reading the title of this felt after waking up early having only watched HbO's fights last night.
Bob Arum deserves a lot of credit for guiding this fraud to where he is right now. Even Bob saw the light and had enough of Chavez and settled for over $1M to give him to Haymon.
I honestly can't see Chavez being successful when he fights guys his size. He needed that size advantage.
So Arum really did make 1 million by selling Jr. to Haymon? Good for Arum -- at least he didn't lose money further... Instead, he let Haymon to set the blueprint for ruining his "business model"...
Junior's lack of discipline had nothing to do with what happened tonight. He simply got exposed for what he is an that is a very average fighter. An average fighter that finally choked on the silver spoon that his career has been fed with. Honestly I wanted Junior to lose and look bad but I have to admit that I kind of felt sorry for him in the end.
True assessment: I always said that it was Chavez Sr. who forced Jr. into this game...
When the ref took the point deduction from Fonfora i thought...aww shit...this is how they are going to save JR...they will DQ Fonfora.
Chavez quits on the stool and then wants a rematch. Quitting on the stool was the only intelligent thing he did during the fight...the guy has to be the ******est fighter I've ever seen.
... Right! This would have been the only Haymon's "escape plan"... Fortunately, it didn't work...
... Streamed the fights and opened two screens on my plasma...
... Watched Lucas-Provo and Fonfara-Jr in parallel... Funny though...
Oh lord no I was too into the Matthysse vs Provo war I knew was gonna be to even switch between showtime and HBO. I had candles lit to the god of war and a viking helmet on. I was on full on somebody gone die mode.
Finally...bwahahahhaaaaa! Goodbye hype job!!! No more living off of your father's name!!!!...he quit like the puta biotch he's always shown himself to be!!!!...

No idea how they figured they would beat Fonfara, credit to moving up and fighting him but very bad opponent choice. Exposed or not Jr made alot of money and was given opportunities he didnt earn.
This is good for boxing. This forces GGG, Froch, and Ward to fight each other and quit chasing Chavez for his name sake and pretending he's a threat. Nobody is shocked by this outcome. Boxing just isn't his thing, he's just not good.
