But the thing is,,, fonfara isn't a "great" lightheavy

      • I liked Jr when he was coming up because he seemed a goofy guy...and had some exciting fights. But, seeing him destroyed and humiliated like this was so good....his attitude sucks.

How the **** did Haymon even allow this fight to happen ....we all knew Jr's only shot was a robbery....that said I didnt expect a stoppage.

        • Not surprised at all. MW division is a joke, one of the weakest in all of boxing.

Chavez Jr. is a less talented version of Librado Andrade.

another made up story from jjsmyth87, lol.

Fonfora, not that long ago, went 12 rounds with the lineal light heavyweight champion of the world, getting dropped early but rallying hard late (if it was a 15 round fight, who knows what could've happened). Over a year out of the ring, looking at the actual opponent being called for, Chavez Sr viewed it to be a terrible fight to pick, rightfully so with the way things unfolded.

Beyond that, whose career is ended? Chavez Jr fought a full-blown light heavyweight, fought him toe to toe for 9 hard rounds, was dropped once, and 'the ref stopped the fight, due to a leg injury'.

Chavez goes back to 168, has two good wins against warm bodies, and he's back in demand, running his own show and not having to deal with some 85 year old man scivving him out of his money.

              • I wonder how a Stevenson rematch would be different than the previous one... Fonfara is good, not Champion like good ... He'll have to wait in line...

                • Would love to see fonfara vs kovalev-stevenson winner. As for Chavez. Let's give the kid a break. Hes young and learning the hard way. Jumping up to fight a top ten LHW was not a good way to impress daddy.

                  • Props to Fonfara for not freezing in the spotlight like he did after having Aducknis all but knocked out. It was great seeing Jr's chin get cracked and legs stiffen up on the way to the canvas. Thanks for that. This night belongs to the Prince.
