Haymon will just get someone like Dibella to put on the card to satisfy legal requirements and pay him a fee.
    Thats my point !

    I dont understand why anybody would sign with Top Rank, let alone a guy who does not need a promoter period.

    Pac just lost.....

    * at least 17% of 80mil
    * the ability to increase that 80mil
    * all of the middle-money

    Resigning with Top Rank likely cost Pac $20mil on just this one fight.

      that would give the green light for Haymon to come for all his fighters. At least now he knows if he wants to poach one, it's going to cost him millions.

        He sucks as a fighter, the only reason he can make any money IS because of Arum... I mean, you can hate Arum because that's what you do, but the top 3 earners on PPV were all house names because of Arums skills as a promoter. You can live in denial if you want though, it goes along with the hard work and dedication.

          Pac resigning with Top Rank, who will not work with other promoters and has no welterweight talent to offer, is inexplicable.

          Pac lost millions on the Mayweather fight by resigning with Top Rank last year.

          Chavez is either way smarter than Pacquiao, or..... Bob is holding something over Pacquiao that he does not hold over Chavez.
          Or PAC would have taken a pitiful offer, like that 40m fixed. Meanwhile he made way more money than he commanded for the likes of Rios in Macau, due to Arums connections

            What is the appeal of this garbage can, other than his last name?
            Last name is revered in Mexico, ended up being able to actually fight a bit, granite chin, won a world championship, relatively young, and isn't a bad looking guy, pause.

            As long as he comes to fight, and doesn't lose to any bums, he's going to have a pretty good career going forward, fighting out of Texas/California/Las Vegas.

              From what I remember, Chavez Jr was supposed to owe Top Rank one fight. To get the Sergio Martinez fight, Chavez Jr was compelled to sign an extension with Top Rank, over a certain period of time where he'd owe a certain number of fights.

              He fought Martinez, ended up fighting Vera twice, and again owed Top Rank one fight. Top Rank tried to pull the same stunt again (dangling the Golovkin fight, in exchange for another multi-fight, multi-year extension) and Chavez Jr & Co were having none of it. Top Rank kept ****ing around, the length of time of the extension elapsed and Chavez's lawyers moved on (just like most option deals, once the time on the deal expires, the actual option tends to expire as well).

              Top Rank argued that their option extended in perpetuity, Chavez's lawyers argued that the option expired when the length of the deal expired, so they went to court; from the fallout, Top Rank's claim doesn't seem like it was shown to be valid and Haymon paid some amount (with the actual figure likely being far less than the seven-figure rumor) to prevent Top Rank from tying the whole thing up in extra litigation.

                I thought he looked pretty impressive against Lee who's been on a hot streak as of late... And if he splatters Quillin like I'm expecting him to do its a solid name on his resume. Just me $0.02

The contracts were very fair for Junior, so it's strange that he would try to leave. However that all happened when he got in bed with Haymon.

                  Let's see what Junior gets paid to fight Fonfara. I bet it won't be anywhere close to the figures he was going to receive. Another funny thing, after all that mess, Junior than has the courage to call out GGG after he fought Murray.
                  Chavez is going to likely get the lion's share of whatever money gets made in the US, is a co-promoter of the event, and will likely take home the bulk of the money brought in from Televisa; pretty sure that Chavez Jr will be just fine.

                  And, if he wins, he'd line up a potential DeGale-Chavez Jr fight, with money coming in from US/UK/Mexico, all of which he'd be getting a share of, being on his own and all.

                  Also, if Golovkin forces his team to play ball, Chavez Jr would still take that fight too; at whatever venue that Chavez Jr could draw the most money to (MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Staples Center or the Forum in L.A., Haskins Center/Sun Bowl in El Paso or Alamodome in San Antonio or JerryLand in Arlington, etc), with whatever TV partner gets Chavez the best deal, with Chavez's sponsors, and Team Golovkin only really dictating things for the Germany TV rights.

                  It's riskier, but Chavez Jr is betting on himself now, and has been trying to get into this type of position for some time now. wish him luck

                    All I know is Chavez can now dictate his own career, he can fight GGG and make double what was offered him by Arum, he didn't have to tie himself down to an extension to get any fight like he did for the Martinez fight and he has a name that can help him get around, having said all of that he needs to be more dedicated to the sport to make his name count.
