I don't know why anyone would want to get in boat with Top Rank at this point. Their roster is dwindling and he's not going to get you out to the masses in the way Haymon can right now. Not to mention. Haymon as an advisor will be taking less money from you. You don't need a real promoter to be in the big fights. Haymon will just get someone like Dibella to put on the card to satisfy legal requirements and pay him a fee.

Chavez Jr.'s fight is nine days away. Why would Arum wait this long to contest his contractual agreement? If Arum truly had a legitimate contract, he would have been raising hell as he has in the past and would have gotten a judge to prevent Jr. from even scheduling a fight until the lawsuit was resolved.

I think Steve Kim's industry source is actually Bob Arum, who told Kim to quote him anonymously. I think the seven-figure settlement is a lie that Arum mentioned to save face. I believe that Arum just recognized that he did not have a leg to stand on and dropped the lawsuit months ago.

You don't think top rank has solid contracts written by experienced lawyers?

When it first was reported, do you know what Chavez Jr's defense was?.... He claimed that he didn't understand the contract! LOL.

Arum probably benefited by cashing Jr out for 7 figures.

I kind of share the same opinion as you! Unfortunately we (Hispanics/Mexicans) are brain washed into thinking some boxers are good when they're B class... this applies to the other so called Mexican superstar.. only one 2 rounds in his biggest fight and now a PPV fighter.. picking and chosing opponents.. smh

For one, cause Chavez was presented a 7m offer to fight GGG by Arum. AFAIK no Haymon fighter other than Floyd has ever made half as much. Plus TR is with HBO, a proven quantity in boxing. There's a good chance Haymon will be out of boxing in 2 years
