I think you're selling him short. He's looked great reccently, he was sharp and focused in with Jamie Rangel a month ago, and this last fight was said to be another pure robbery.

I think he'd be a handfull for a lot of guys at 140 if he's focused and ready.

If you've seen Ward Augustus, you'd know what a bombshell this fight could be.

Hatton would be favored by far, but Augustus takes a helluva shot and keeps coming.

I'd much rather see this fight than anything I've heard mentioned for Hatton reccently.
We disagree my friend...but thats ok!

Augustus would not be competitive against Hatton it would be a wipeout...at this stage in Emanuel's career he has no shot against a pressure animal like Ricky, no shot.

Watch Augustus fight Leo Dorin...you would think on paper Augustus would be extrrememly competitive but in reality Dorin won just about every round.

The Lazcano fight would have been the fight that I was getting hot and heavy over and now that its gone I really dont care who Ricky fights I just want him to look good on US soil...I like Emanual Augustus and wouldnt mind if he got a decent payday but lets not kid ourselves here...he has absolutely no chance against Ricky Hatton-it wont be competitive.

But if you keep referring to him as a "clown" and "simply a showman" people might tend to not take your post seriously.

Sure he "clowns" and sure he's a "showman" but limiting him to these areas is in my best estimation....ignorant at best.

Isn't his main selling point his "clowning around"? At this stage in his career he is just a showman, not a competitive, top class boxer.

burton was downed by a body shot that was called a low blow and he was down for like 30 seconds so it shoulda been a ko

he even asked a commissioner guy about the fight there on tv

if u actually saw the fight instead of just reading it on boxrec ud know that sucka

At least Hatton hasn't lost to:Morua, N'Goudjo, Burton (officialy, though Augustus did beat him), Barrientes, Diaz, Pinto (who ran a mile when offered a fight with Hatton), Warrick, Weis, Dorin, Ward, Mayweather (though I wish him and Hatton would fight), Molina, Reid, Diaz, Vester, Gomez, Flores, Lopez, Hurtado, Smith, Churchwell, Robinson, Taliaferro, Miranda, Chavez, Tobar.

perhaps one of the real problems these days is boxrec.com. people just look up a record and think they can judge a fighter by this.

there are a hell of a lot of boxing experts that know augustus, at top form, would be a challenge for any fighter in the division.

getting to the augustus/hatton proposal, this fight brings many things to the table to offer to fight fans.

1- augustus, especially when swithcing between regular boxing mode and drunken master mode, is an extremely awkward fighter. also, extremely fun to watch.

2- this would be a great first fight for hatton in the US because it's an exciting, interesting match up and i would say it would be a tough test for hatton.

3- augustus is hell bent on fighting and beating hatton. especially since he's good friends with tszyu, there is extra incentive for him to fight in top form. i would also think that emanuel would be working with kostya on some level since tszyu has experience in fighting ricky.

overall, a fine match up and i would pay to see this fight if there was at least a decent 3 fight undercard.

This Eamonn Magee stuff is nonsense, Ali was dropped by Henry Cooper, and was even lucky to win it! and it's not as if Magee was a bum anyway, he was highly ranked and Hatton won anyway, it got to be just pure hatred and jealousy that makes people say these things.

                ohhhhhhhh

and augustus has relentlessly called mayweather out

funny that augustus sucks so bad supposedly but has fought way better competition than ur boy sucka

looks like hatton would be dying to fight someone with augustus record seeing how it seems to be the normal calibur of hattons opponents

He'd still lose, but it won't be an easy fight. Floyd couldn't put him away. Floyd called Augustus his greatest challenge.

"Fifty grand and I will give you the fight the fans voted to see on *********," said Augustus. "Not one million but fifty-thousand....and I will give you a rematch after I beat you. Of course, I will ask more in the rematch but I won't be ridiculous but, of course, I will beat you again and that being said it will be even worse than in the first one."

I think some of you guys are underestimating how the Collazo fight will be promoted.

While Augustus might be a few boxing fans' favourite he's also got a very poor record, holds no belts, does nothing to help hatton position himself for the biggest fight against Mayweather, Cotto etc etc.

Collazo might not be a star amongst boxing fans but he does hold a title, meaning this fight can be branded as "Unified (undisputed) LWW champ Hatton's bid to become a two weight champion". Of course we know this won't make Hatton the man at 147, but it sounds a lot more like a big fight than "Unified LWW champ Hatton's bid to be the 100th guy to beat Emmanuel Augustus".
