Augustus: I'll fight Hatton for 50k!

After reading on *********.com what WBA welterweight champion Luis Collazo's management was asking for in purse money for defending against Ricky Hatton, Emanuel Augustus contacted *********.com to let Ricky Hatton know that he will take the fight for $50,000.....or $950,000 less than the Colazzo camp wants. "Fifty grand and I will give you the fight the fans voted to see on *********," said Augustus. "Not one million but fifty-thousand....and I will give you a rematch after I beat you. Of course, I will ask more in the rematch but I won't be ridiculous but, of course, I will beat you again and that being said it will be even worse than in the first one."

Yea if he showed up in shape and with a good camp I think he'd be competitive.

That's a helluva fight for the fans sans mention of Augustus' record.

I think you're selling him short. He's looked great reccently, he was sharp and focused in with Jamie Rangel a month ago, and this last fight was said to be another pure robbery.

I think he'd be a handfull for a lot of guys at 140 if he's focused and ready.

If you've seen Ward Augustus, you'd know what a bombshell this fight could be.

Hatton would be favored by far, but Augustus takes a helluva shot and keeps coming.

I'd much rather see this fight than anything I've heard mentioned for Hatton reccently.

If Augustus really wanted to be aken seriously then he should have taken his career more seriously. Augustus has failed to live up to his talent and has blown any chance of a proper tilt at the best in the division.

          Yawn.

How many fights of his have you seen? Name them.

The guy's been robbed in about 80% of his losses.

This is just 'get my name out there' speak.

He is not in Hattons league IMO for starters and there would be no gain in Hatton fighting him, wont happen!

Good fighter, although if I'm honest I have only seen two or three of his fights and could be selling him short!

Anyway you try and spin it, this is a more exciting match up than any of the names that have been thrown around for Hatton in the last few weeks.

Augustus has a great following in the US because he puts on a show and always puts up a hell of a fight.

If Hatton beat him in a fight that had shades of Ward Augustus, his rep in North America would go up tenfold because of the excitment.

That's not going to happen with a boring one sided defense over a mandatory no one's heard of or the little known Collazo.

Name the fights he has been robbed in then. You don't get unlucky 25+ times. I think I gave a fair assessment and its only people like you (i.e. not especially boxing savvy "Mormeck is the greatest blah, blah ****ing blah") who would fail to see that.

Augustus has talent, but he (and you) can't blame bad luck for his defeats, he has defeated himself more than any corruption on the judges' behalf.

As for what fights of hsi have I seen? Well you asked me this question when I put forward a slightly more realistic view of Jean Marc Mormeck. I was right then and I'm right now.

For the record i've seen Augustus vs Burton, Mayweather and Ward.

You're a wounded sod, as is evident in your bitching about Mormeck. What were you right about? He lost one fight. Your whole argument was about David Haye, who's no closer to cleaning out Cruiserweight than he was before you started your deluded cheer leading.

Agree with you 100% Bozo, but the opinions of many outside of North America are based on a fighters record, Augustus does not have a great record on paper and has lost to good fighters but has also lost to poor fighters.
He's lost 26 fights, I know as a boxing fan that sometimes that does not tell the whole tale but many of the paying public will not see it that way!
