Kovalev got half a million for fighting Bernard Hopkins in a unification fight. If Ward were to accept that sort of money - never mind the sort of money Kovalev would have made for fighting the likes of Agnew and Caparello - he wouldn't have any problems finding dates for his next fight. But he wouldn't accept it because his sense of entitlement is as gross and overbearing as that giant chrome dome of his.

That's the difference between a real fighter like Kovalev and a pampered poser like Andre Ward. If there were more guys like Kovalev in boxing, this sport would be in a far healthier state than it's actually in. Guys like Ward represent everything wrong with boxing.

... Back at the end of 2011, Ward thought he was going to take a "Floyd-like route" in the sport... Ward is the last U.S. Olympic champion -- everybody there thought he will become the next P4P American star... But the times they are a changin'... though...

I'm sure HBO would have accepted Oosthuizen if the price was more reasonable. Unfortunately Ward's own valuation of himself bares little connection with reality. The fans certainly won here. Ward-Oosthuizen would have been a real snoozer. It also probably indicates that HBO have lost a lot of faith in Ward as a star for the channel.

Ward isn't a name that can carry a fight on it's own. He needs a decent opponent if he wants decent money. Fans aren't interested in watching Andre Ward ... but they may be interested in watching Andre ward v a big name.

HBO is going all in on the GGG and Kovalevs and are phasing out the ward's and Rigo's... Let's see how this plays out.

Will work out great, since both kovalev and GGG are extremely fan friendly meanwhile Ward and GGG are more of a required taste.

You're probably right. The people who call it a "required taste" will probably only be interested in following the sport via Hbo with the likes of GGG and Kovalev.

Those who have an AQUIRED taste for the actual science will watch where we can.

Don't wish any boxer as gifted as Ward to fail. But he really shot himself in the foot this time. However much money Ward demanded, it must have been career high because he just signed a deal with RocNac, but obviously hbo is refusing to pay him for 2, that's right 2 tune up fights the first being the Rodriguez fight! Ward is starting to seem like a fading memory, and in the end it's ward not the fans that will regret the opportunities...

Muhammadi is a mandatory and it's cheap for HBO and I'm sure it will get decent ratings. Again, difference between paying Kovalev $350k or whatever versus ~$2m

Ward thinks he's a big shot now. $2 million dollar paydays are required for his snooze fest.
