Murray was a quality fight though so you'd expect he would get paid more for that (although I'm sure they didn't pay him a million since the time and location of the fight).

GGG got $400,000 against Stevens. $750k for Geale. His highest purse to date was Rubio. Clearly a big difference from what Ward is asking for his tune ups.

Beyond that, the assumption that Ward is asking for $2m for the fight, without any hints to that position, is a bit much.
Why is that? What indication is there that Ward is not asking for that much? Why else would HBO reject it? Clearly they don't see the value in this fight for the price. I suppose another factor could be that HBO simply doesn't like the fight, they don't think it will be entertaining.

Just making the point that $10 tickets distort perception; if it was $100 to get a seat in the building, with the scale graduating for ringside seats, does Canelo put 20k into the building (with comps)? He's got a chance, but not by much. Does he do more than that? Not a chance in hell.

Beyond that, you're being downright disrespectful to Andre Ward.

The man won an Olympic gold medal and, within much money put into the promotional effort, was still able to get 9,000 people to come out and see him fight (with over 7,500 actually paying a ticket).

He's not the idol of his country just yet, but to compare him to being on the level of some random dude, making beats in his basement, makes you look ******.

If Canelo is supposed to be akin to Jay-Z (global music icon with reach all over the world), Ward is Kendrick Lamar, after good kidd M.a.a.D City (prodigal talent with regional/national success, on the cusp or truly launching into a massive crossover star)

I don't want Andre Ward to fight Oosthuzien. I want him to fight Froch, Golovkin, the Dirrell brothers, and Kovalev.

by the way canelo can sell out mgm any given day fighting nonames, same goes for thomas and mack and stub hub, are those $10 too??
just keep in mind that broner, mares, guerrero, thurman and molina together couldnt fill up the mgm even with free tickets... haymon had to pay to have a decent crowd...
the lowest three tiers of tickets are $10, $25, and $50. For a sporting event, I consider those three tiers the cheap seats; if there's a disagreement with that position, so be it.

And Canelo may be able to sell out MGM Grand/StubHub/etc any weekend he wanted (to think that he can sell out some venue on a Wednesday night is a bit much). My question is at what price point? At $500, for the cheapest seat in the building, Alvarez doesn't put 5,000 people into the building.

Beyond that, I sincerely doubt that Haymon refused to take a site fee for the first PBC show, especially with none of the fighters on the bill actually being Vegas stars

Ward's been out of the ring for 18 months and he can't even fight 'Tommy Gun', a fighter who was a top 10 super middleweight less than two fights ago, a top 15 light heavyweight now, and a guy who is also undefeated?

                      you guys are ridiculous.
