Well said. Good post. I agree 100%. My thoughts exactly.

      • Have we finally reached the obvious conclusion that Roy boxed circles around Kovalev?

        Yes? Good.

Nothing obvious about it. Kovalev's ring IQ and generalship is too high to let that happen. He would catch RJJ pivoting left and right with vicious shots and impose his will.

Fights against Benn and Dariusz were hard to make.

Kov looks great, but he seems easy enough to hit to me. I'd have to fancy Roy.

Even his unification fights are somewhat tarnished by the terrible sanctioning body politics that gave rise to those belts being stripped from Michalczewski.
I was about to say that's the only one. But that's been debated for years. He didn't want to leave Germany and come fight Roy in the states.

He was offered $5million to fight Roy on HBO according to them. Also didn't beat anyone of note anyway.

The drop back down from HW ruined his punch resistance and stamina as it has known to do many fighters. Look into how pathetic of a chin Chris Byrd had when he dropped down to lhw from hw. He was taking big shots from guys a lot bigger than him for a decade and then all of the sudden he cant take a stiff jab from a journeyman.

You need to step out of Klitschko threads more often.

                • People forget just how good Roy was, during his prime I thought no one would ever come close to him (barring the Montel Griffin fight).

There is almost no one I'd pick over him from 160-175, maybe Michael Spinks in his prime before he became HW champ. I don't think Kovalev is as good as a prime Toney or Hopkins. Toney had a better defense, Hopkins is a better mover and boxer than Kovalev. Kovalev has more power obviously but I don't think he could have touched Roy.

Your theory doesn't make any sense.

If Roy had been dropped several times, they'd all have been 10-8 rounds to Kov. And if that had've made Roy cautious and he'd have stayed away, then there's no way he could have made up the deficit.

                    • Prime Roy obliterates Kovalev

I mean he's been dropped by lesser fighters the one that's fighting now gets blown out in under 6..For all the power the Krusher possess Jones had power in both hands and with blinding speed ..Kovalev would have been out gunned .
