Its most likely the lack of knowledge. UFC fans had a chance to grow with the sport as UFC presents it, but if UFC lasts as long as boxing you will eventually get a generation that will be similar. Boxing is one of the oldest sports in history, and was heavily tied to ******** in America which is why it was once illegal to put on events and in NY they would fight on a barge. But there is still millions of die hard fans but as in anything else the voices of the idiots drown out the voices of the sane.

I didnt get defensive I just gave you some facts about why your view of boxing being a "niche" sport is misplaced. Your view that boxing is a "niche" sport is among the narrative of those who would have you believe that boxing is dead, which is why I put that in. The problem with boxing is that it transitioned from a local T.V. event to a network event which alienated casual viewers and an entire sect of people who dont have the want or moneys to subscribe to cable networks like showtime and HBO, but those people never left, as evidenced by youtube video boxing is watched by Millions upon Millions, and demographic tests also shows the sport still leads in combat sports and is the highest paid combat sport in the world.Comment

As a fan of boxing Im glad its back on Network TV. A guy said it earlier for all these fighters to not get 1 million views on HBO or Showtime and get over 3 million is great. More exposure to the casual fan, Im sure even people switching through the channels stopped and watched a bit.
The numbers are good to start, and will keep growing. If Al starts matching heavys on his cards then the numbers will do better.
I liked the look and understand some things have to be cut out or cut short. Espn dont show ring entrances but you got a glimpse at least last night.
The replays need better work, and Sugar Ray and Marv need to develop better chemistry. Marv is a professional Im sure he realizes he was rather dull and step his game up, same with Ray. But the point of them was name recognition, again i expect commentating to get better.
Overall not bad, wish Broner would have engaged more, but I enjoyed Thurman vs Guerrero.
And if ur a fan why bash this? You should want boxing to grow and grow, damn I wish there were televised fights everyday that I could watch, but well just sit here and ***** about it smfhComment

Not bad for a premier show especially for boxing, I do believe that boxing was slowy dying except for the hard core boxing fanatics. The show was intended for casual fans and for me it did good. Once the words gets out we will see the pattern of the numbers for the next fights.Comment
