Cotto's promoter, at the time, said Canelo agreed to all of Cotto's demands. Cotto still wasn't interested.
You can spin that whatever way you like, I like both fighters, probably Cotto more but it's clear to me who wasn't interested in the fight. He turned it down for the second time inside a year.
Top Rank negotiated a Canelo fight, they offered and were willing to do that fight. They offered him K-9 too.
People talk about venue and date, they're making excuses for Cotto because Cotto never mentioned this being a problem. The only thing that was apparently a problem was Canelo talking to Mexican newspapers disrespecting Cotto.
Exactly, which is why it seems a strange move.
Oscar was openly stating he thought it would be Mayweather/Cotto andOscar got scared and told his fighter to take a ****** fight instead of waiting and that's all that happened. Why did Oscar do that? Because no one is buying Cotto/Canelo a week after spending $100 on May/Pac. This fight now and ALWAYS made sense in NY in June and Oscar and Canelo pissed themselves at the thought of a stadium full of non-Canelo fans for the first time. Just stop posting now please.Comment

Cotto and his people have diva syndrome. If he is not fighting GGG or Canelo Top Rank shouldn't want him anyway. At his age he should be making legit fights... I don't want to see Bradley or Rios fight the so called lineal Middleweight Champ... Either GGG or Canelo or give up the throne and fight Delvin Rodriguez or the Austin Trout rematch on ESPN Friday Night Fights...Comment

Yeah, I'm sure it's going to be something like that. Obviously Roc Nation is still working on building a stable, and even though it's not much, Cotto Promotions are a stable of fighters so it's something to work with. I'm sure there will be some kind of business deal, a consistent working relationship between the two, if not entirely tied together. This deal for Cotto is probably just as much about his company as it is about the remaining time left in his boxing career as a fighter.Last edited by ИATAS; 03-04-2015, 06:18 PM.Comment

Because they haven't done much to build their brand so far.
The Quillin-Korobov purse win went nowhere, they struck out with Broner, the Gary Shaw marriage didn't last, and Ward doesn't have a fight scheduled.
It seems Roc Nation is looking to spend money...they just haven't done much with it yet.Last edited by Mitchell Kane; 03-04-2015, 06:17 PM.Comment

Is it that Roc Nation "can lose money" with Cotto to build their brand, or that they need to lose money to build their brand?
