I don't know how old you are, but based on what you are saying here, I would bet that you still work for that same McDonalds or Burger King that gave you your first job as a teenager. Unlike Cotto, you are not gutless. You refuse to allow yourself to suck the proverbial tit of some company that offers you more money. You are willing to do any menial or messy job for whatever salary your employer is willing to pay you. You don't chase after money and allow yourself to be led around by the nose.He is classless, gutless and definitely a follower. Classless because of his lack of professionalism; gutless because he won't defend title to the best (GGG) and a follower because he lacks leadership and does what needs to be done; instead he sucks the proverbial tit of whoever leads him around by the nose.
Damn you Cotto for taking the biggest financial offer being made to you! You should display some class and guts and demonstrate that you are a leader by continuing to work for Bob Arum for one-half or one-third of what Roc Nation is willing to pay you!!!
It is a f*&^%%g said day in boxing when a fighter chooses money over loyalty!!!!

I think old school promoters like bob are getting phased out. What they charge hundreds of thousands for can be done for pennies on social media. You see the things Haymon is doing with his network deals. You got Roc Nation- notice they are essentially replacing agents in nfl/nba yet getting their clients huge deals. Look at how LeBron engineered his friends handling his business.I'm wondering if Top Rank is just starting to feel the pressure and their chokehold on boxing is getting loosend quickly. Haymon obviously has some deep pockets and we know that RocNation does. Top Rank simply doesn't have enough side business to sustain the risk of putting up more money than anyone else it appears.
RocNation can lose money on a fight with Cotto in order to build their own brand. Top Rank can't match them because they really don't have much to build on anymore and, like the WWE, it appears Arum and McMahon have lost their touch. 50 years is a great run for any company, but Top Rank doesn't have many fighters and Arum seems more interested in China that building boxing up in the US. At least Haymon and Rocnation are trying to build something here, not suck the blood out of the landscape and leave which seems to be what Arum is doing.
Change is coming.Comment

They offered him Canelo too, and K-9.
Who are Roc going to offer him?
I really can't see the figures being that high.
No, Canelo was open to Vegas. Face it, Cotto didn't want the fight.Comment

Canelo wasn't so open with New York. Of course he was cool with Vegas, that's Canelo's home turf. The venue will be jam packed with Mexicans. New York though, Canelo knows the venue would be jam packed with Puerto Ricans. The venue alone was a huge issue that many don't realise.Comment

top rank promotes k9 and canelo? If cotto fights in june, you really think that he's gonna fight in vegas, or in msg? Really think about thatComment

Has anyone even thought about the possibility of cotto promotions working with roc nation sports? As in, some fighters from cotto promotions in pr get to fight in nyc and vice versa.Comment

I know. Which is why I said in Canelo's hometown, on his date and Cotto was only getting 500k more. The fight should be in NY, Cotto didn't walk away Canelo did. Signing with RocNation is irrelevant.
You don't sign a fight on the same day Mayweather is going to fight no matter the opponent. Even if Cotto/Canelo got more buys than a Floyd PPV on the same date, it still wouldn't be as much as if they went alone. You don't also do it because then you have to change the date and location and all the stuff that is supposed to be taken care of in negotiations becomes an issue again.
Canelo cared more about sticking it to Floyd than a fight with Cotto. The promoter had nothing to do with that fight. I can only imagine if the roles were reversed and Canelo was only offered 500k more to fight in NY how the Canelo fans would feel about that. We'll never know though, because Canelo didn't even make it an option. He's a puta.Last edited by Beater_of_ass; 03-04-2015, 05:27 PM.Comment

I don't understand how this even matters? Not like Roc has anyone for him to fight anyway. He still needs opponents and they will come from Tr,GB, or some other promotional company not with HaymonComment
