I'm getting more and more disappointed with Cotto's decisions lately. I just hope he redeems it all by announcing a legitimate opponent soon.

It goes to show you it doesn't matter how many tough or dangerous fighters you fight in your career, in the end, these vicious boxing fans will throw you under the bus once you start asking for more money as a prizefighter. Torres, Bailey, Malignaggi, Quintana, Judah, Mosley, Margarito, Clottey, Pacquiao, Mayweather, Trout, Martinez...nope, who cares, he's a fraud cause he won't fight this one guy in his 4th weight class.Comment

They don't want to hear that. Cotto is supposed to just take whatever is thrown at him. Ignore all the disadvantages and give all the advantage to Canelo. Too bad that didn't happen and Cotto gave all of them a major rude awakening (as I said would happen).

Jay Z is really knocking it out of the park. Now he's got a guy who never fights and a guy with about 2 fights left (1 if he grows a pair and fight GGG). Really blossoming so far.Comment

Can't blame him. His supposed promoter was out there killing himself for canelo. Trying to secure a date, location and time that would be better suited for a rivals fighter instead of Miguel. Why would Cotto go for that?
I'm not a huge mc fan but good for him.Comment

This is what I was anticipating. Possibly even a joining of promotion companies under the RN banner, with Cotto gaining a partnership role. Much like Hopkins getting a partnership role with GBP.
Something like this would actually be great for both companies, and for Cotto. He gets his fighters into a new promoter with deep pockets and name recognition across the entertainment industry, and he could set himself up to reap the benefits for the rest of his career in boxing, outside of the ring. Cotto may end up being a major player or face of the RN, similar to GBP.Comment

Last I checked Steve Kim was a reputable boxing head that "actually" covers boxing...and you are???Comment

Cotto's promoter, at the time, said Canelo agreed to all of Cotto's demands. Cotto still wasn't interested.
You can spin that whatever way you like, I like both fighters, probably Cotto more but it's clear to me who wasn't interested in the fight. He turned it down for the second time inside a year.
Top Rank negotiated a Canelo fight, they offered and were willing to do that fight. They offered him K-9 too.
People talk about venue and date, they're making excuses for Cotto because Cotto never mentioned this being a problem. The only thing that was apparently a problem was Canelo talking to Mexican newspapers disrespecting Cotto.
Exactly, which is why it seems a strange move.Comment
