how many times has GGG moved up weight?

cotto: 34 yrs old 4th weight class 43 fights

GGG: 32 yrs old only 1 weight class 32 fights

why cant GGG move up and dare to be great?
    Who's the lineal MW champ?
    Who's his mandatory challenger?
That's all that really matters. I don't care about who's moving anywhere to be honest, I just want to see unification fights and great fighters fighting one another.

You can spin that whatever way you like, I like both fighters, probably Cotto more but it's clear to me who wasn't interested in the fight. He turned it down for the second time inside a year.

Top Rank negotiated a Canelo fight, they offered and were willing to do that fight. They offered him K-9 too.

People talk about venue and date, they're making excuses for Cotto because Cotto never mentioned this being a problem. The only thing that was apparently a problem was Canelo talking to Mexican newspapers disrespecting Cotto.

Exactly, which is why it seems a strange move.
Bro, you have clue what you are even talking about do you? Did you read these articles? Oscar literally said Canelo agreed with HIS OWN demands. I don't care which fighter you like or don't like because your facts are straight up WRONG. The fight was only to be in Vegas or in Texas in May and the fight would ONLY move because of May/Pac.

Oscar was openly stating he thought it would be Mayweather/Cotto andOscar got scared and told his fighter to take a ****** fight instead of waiting and that's all that happened. Why did Oscar do that? Because no one is buying Cotto/Canelo a week after spending $100 on May/Pac. This fight now and ALWAYS made sense in NY in June and Oscar and Canelo pissed themselves at the thought of a stadium full of non-Canelo fans for the first time. Just stop posting now please.

      • Cotto and his people have diva syndrome. If he is not fighting GGG or Canelo Top Rank shouldn't want him anyway. At his age he should be making legit fights... I don't want to see Bradley or Rios fight the so called lineal Middleweight Champ... Either GGG or Canelo or give up the throne and fight Delvin Rodriguez or the Austin Trout rematch on ESPN Friday Night Fights...

You certainly called it from day one.

Yeah, I'm sure it's going to be something like that. Obviously Roc Nation is still working on building a stable, and even though it's not much, Cotto Promotions are a stable of fighters so it's something to work with. I'm sure there will be some kind of business deal, a consistent working relationship between the two, if not entirely tied together. This deal for Cotto is probably just as much about his company as it is about the remaining time left in his boxing career as a fighter.

            • Hope this doesnt have any negative effect on canelo-cotto negotiations
              in the future.

Yeah, I agree with this. As long as the fight can still be made, and Roc nation is willing to work with other promoters,I don't see what the big deal is.

Is it that Roc Nation "can lose money" with Cotto to build their brand, or that they need to lose money to build their brand?

Because they haven't done much to build their brand so far.

The Quillin-Korobov purse win went nowhere, they struck out with Broner, the Gary Shaw marriage didn't last, and Ward doesn't have a fight scheduled.

It seems Roc Nation is looking to spend money...they just haven't done much with it yet.

Cotto deserves a good income after some of the beatings top rank put him through.
Even a half brained boxing fan doesn't really expect cotto to ever face ggg, bad move for cotto so late in his career

It's probably because they have to lose money to build their brand, either way they have deeper pockets than Top Rank which is really all that mattered to Cotto.
