So instead of making £2.5million to fight DeGale in the UK, you're going to get KO'd in some backwater town in Michigan for $200k
Someone has to say it, this guy Dirk Diggler is plain weird. I beg someone tells me he is related to Degale, if so I will apologise. Otherwise, weird.

          DeGale didn't though did he?
Stadiums tend to fill up with people (casuals) who arrive predominantly for the main event, which was 45 minutes after DeGale.

But I suppose he can always tell people he fought on a card where 80K people came to see Froch Groves 2

Seems like everyone in here echoes my sentiment. So who's really the weird one?

Groves is like a broken record. By his own admission he's living off getting knocked out by Froch in front of a huge crowd.

He should take these big money fights like DeGale before they dry up for him.

Groves pride not allowing himself to get KOd by Degale, is similar to Khans pride about turning down another title shot against Brook. So i guess its ok for Khan to do it but not Groves huh?

There's no question Groves is a bigger attraction than degale at this moment in time. That's obviously why Hearn is pushing so much for the fight.

However, how can he say he's doing the smart thing by waiting on a mandatory in November for 1/20 of the money he'll make in the UK vs Degale on PPV? I just don't get it.

Is he really that pitiful that he'll rather take a high-risk/low-reward fight as opposed to just granting Degale a 50/50 shot?

Is he bitter because he took a lower cut the first time? Does he not like Degale or Hearn? is he willing to give up £2million because of that?

ffs, lose to degale and you're still in the game. It'll be 1-1 after that and you can push for a trilogy after that. I mean, have some common sense.

I can see both sides here. Groves is playing hard ball.
Degale will always be there for Groves as he has beat him twice.
If both Degale and Groves held a title it'd be worth x 2 the money.
If Groves looses and Degale wins a title surely Degale still wants the fight?
If both loose they just make less money. Groves has made good money recently and seems to be sensible with it. He currently holds the cards.

Thats a good point, Groves going the WBC route isnt wise, of all santioning bodies theyre the most lenient when it somes to enforcing mandatorieis, and they play favoritism. Im not sure what hes rated by the WBC but it could take years to get a shot even for the #1 contender. Degale should just take the shot whoever it is, but i see groves as being more beatable than dirrel which is why IMO Degale prefers to face Groves. In oreder to win a title, would you want to face the better fighter or the more beatable? Which comes to my next point, fighters should to fight nothing but the best, especially at the title level instead of looking for the path with the least resistance.
