Briggs is a very good fighter when he's in shape, but he can't seem to get himself in top shape anymore, or won't I should say.
I like him and would like to see him succeed, but it's all about how hard he's willing to train. He can't show up weighing 260 lbs. and expect to beat somebody like Brewster or Byrd.

Briggs is a peg below Rahman, IMO. Both have failed in their moments of truth; but Rock's moments were bigger. Briggs showed heart agaisnt Lewis; but that was many moons ago, when he was a young man. Briggs will not win a major fight....ever. He's missing that certain something that the great ones have, if he didn't, he would've had a far more impressive career than he's compiled to this point. His biggest wins are over has beens and never-weres.....even the Foreman win, which he didn't deserve.

Now, all of that being said, I wll say it is conceivable he could outbox Nicolay Valuev; but that's admittedly a statement based on hearsay for I've never seen the big Russian box. Outside of reports from posters, websites, and magazines, I have no idea wheter Valuev is for real or not....but the odds are against him being much more than just really big....REALLY BIG.

Yeah Briggs seems weak mentally, and if he showed up weighing what he's been weighing, he might just be right there for Valuev to hit, who knows?

The fact that Briggs is even in the running for a title, is pathetic, and worse than that, I can see him defeating Lamon Brewster or Nicolay Valuev possibly. Not Rahman or Peter or Wladimir though. We'll see if he actually attempts this or if he just continues to KO the ****y Ryan's of the world.

Peter is currently ducking Briggs right now. Peter's management says Briggs is priceing himself out of the fight but Briggs has said numerous times that he would fight Peter for 400K instead of 600K. Yall can say Briggs has been beating C level fighters all you want but so has Peter. 10-0 10 KO's should not be ignored and Peter should man up and sign the fight.

The Briggs Peter fight should be signed soon so we can see which of the slow power punchers is better.

I'd actually take Briggs over Peter any day of the week.

Peter-Briggs would be an interesting match and it's debateable as to who pulled out from the offers. I've read it from both sides.

But, the fight itself is interesting becaue Peter, strong as he is, is crude as hell and can be outboxed. However, Briggs, though technically superior to Peter, hasn't got the best set of whiskers.

Honestly, I see Peter taking Briggs head off. I don't see Shannon staying composed in the face of pressure long enough to secure a win. Peter would knock him out.
