How shot was Lennox Lewis when he steelfisted Vitali

You tend to look 'shot' at that age if you aren't 100% prepared for a fight v an opponent at the same level as you. Had it been Kirk Johnson fighting Lennox, probably Lewis would have KO'd him and a lot of people would be saying he's still young enough to go on and make money and not shot at all etc.
Sure, Lennox wasn't at his best...but neither was Vitali 100% prepared for the fight...both guys got 2 weeks notice. But let's not get it twisted, any objective poster will agree that yes, Lennox wasn't in his best shape, but to say he was grossly fat and out of shape is a load of ****.
Funnily enough the fact that the fight was on such short notice and due to lack of proper preparation probably led to it being as good as it was. Neither guy had a solid gameplan as they were not expecting the fight at that point, so it turned out to be a slugfest war. Vitali's cut-prone skin is not the best suited for that kind of fight.
Hard to truly know how a fight would play out with both men fully prepared, i've thought about it more and I think a rematch would probably have been a more boring fight, with both men being more cautious in their approach. Both guy's styles will always be a problem for each other, so it's a pick-em fight. Had a re-match happened, I think Vitali would have won and that could have left the series at 1-1, would have satisfied all fan bases and led to a better discussion than the trolling from Lennox fans and some delusion from Vitali fans.Comment

thats weird because I know ,Vitali's career would have ended that night whether he beat Lewis or not.. that was a career ending night either wayComment

ok sorry but when exactly was Roy Jones grossly out of shape..So Roy Jones isn't shot because he has a 6 pack right?
His timing wasn't there and his feet were like lead, not to mention he wasn't pumping that jabComment

So he suddenly became shot in the Vitali fight and that had nothing to do with his opponent that night? See I think Holmes looked shot to piss against Tyson, but then 4 years later looked pretty damned decent against Mercer. Not prime, but nowhere near "shot." Tons of prospects look like world beaters, until they don't. Opposition matters.
There was huge public support for a rematch. Lewis didn't want to risk it. If it makes you feel better to think that it was because he was "shot" at the time, go right ahead.Comment

Lol what? What does being in shape have to do with being shot? Shot is when your skills decline...you lose the speed, power, punch resistance, reflexes...that's the types of things RJJ has lost, so he is shot.
Audley Harrison is in shape these days, but he's shot as hell. This isn't bodybuilding as we all know.
And about timing and jab etc...it's because he was thrown off by Vitali's performance. As others say, opposition matters. V a lesser opponent he would have got an easy W and people wouldn't have commented much.Comment

Although I wouldn't go around claiming the 36 year old Lennox Lewis was "prime as hell", I did choose this option because it was the closest representation to the truth.
The CORRECT assessment of the Lewis/Vitali fight is...
A NEAR-PRIME LENNOX LEWIS defeated a PRE-PRIME VITALI KLITSCHKO!
The best performance of Lennox Lewis ever was imo the second Rahman fight, his 3rd to last. We are talking like a year and a half later and Lewis, whilst only 5lbs heftier than his usual fighting weight, only just over 250lbs, was still in GREAT CONDITION! Anybody trying to excuse Lennox short-comings by claiming he was "fat" is a ****in idiot!
Truth is, the Lennox Lewis who fought Vitali, was one of the heftiest (=most power, most chin, most resistance) versions of LEnnox ever and THE most experienced version with the IQ of all of his fights behind him.
And Lewis fought one of the best fights against Vitali visually as well. You can point at nothing in Lewis's performance that can detract from him at all, other than the fact that, for the first time, he had met someone that could punch the utter snot out of him.
And the following is also a consideration that ALL nutbags seem to overlook...
"Had Lennox Lewis come in much LIGHTER vs Vitali... I believe he would have been knocked out in round 2 or 3. His weight was imo what allowed him to even survive long enough to be able to cut Vitali.
Keep trolling Landa!Comment
