Bottom line is this was a competitive fight, both had their moments, Vitali got the better of it but Lewis looked to be turning the tide a little. Vitali suffered a cut that was too severe for him to continue. The fight was stopped. Lewis TKO 6. Thats it.

Lewis wasn't at all shot but he had seen his best days and wasn't in peak shape.

This topic has been done to death.

Lewis was still in his prime, but it was the "twilght," or "tail-end" of his prime.

Sort of like where Mayweather, and Pacquiao right now. Still prime, but tail-end of their primes.

      FAR from "shot."

But him being at the tail-end of his prime, was offset by Vitali still being at the "forefront" of his prime, rather than the "heart" of his prime.

I'm breaking it down like this, because of how picky people are about this whole "prime for prime" concept. I mean, Tyson had like the shortest prime ever, according to most NSB'ers.

Lewis TKO 6'd Vitali, but Vitali TKO'4'life Lewis...

Lewis looked prime vs Tyson just one year prior to Vitali.

This whole thing is Lewis's version of the nutbag "prime" principle..

Whenever there "stellar" or undefeated reign occurred, the favourite boxer was prime. Whenever they struggled or lost.. They were shot!

The prime argument is the 2nd most useless argument in all of boxing (after the HOF/ATG argument). It is almost totally worthless in a boxer assessment except under very extreme circumstances.

Tons of prospects look like world beaters, until they don't. Opposition matters.

There was huge public support for a rematch. Lewis didn't want to risk it. If it makes you feel better to think that it was because he was "shot" at the time, go right ahead.
He didn't suddenly became shot. He was shot against Tyson as well, Tyson was just so shyt that you can't see it.

Prime Lewis was 97-00. In 01, he was done and he got knocked the *** out. He return the favor because

1-He's an ATG. That's what he does.
2-Rahman is a good fighter but not an ATG. So even a past prime ATG can defeat him.

In 2002 he was really done but tricked everyone, including you it seems with the Tyson fight. I watched every Lewis fight in existence.

                2002 vs Tyson
-He was sluggish and slow. Tyson was just even slower and more sluggish. It looked like a big grown man beating up a smaller grown man. It don't look like two ATGS. Or do you suck HBO'S *** and believe their commentaries? They knew Tyson was done and Lewis was past it. Lewis wasn't even able to string together a combination outside of upper cut right hand. Look at Lewis's handspeed against Golota and against Briggs. Now look at it against Tyson. Lewis even had to start clinching and catching his breath against Tyson because he was half out of air by round 5.

2003-He was really done and still put up a great fight against Vitali prior to stopping him.

He was also 258 pound or something. Fat as hell by his standards and wobbling around like a drunk. That being said, I believe he would have ended Vitali's life if the fight wasn't stopped in 6. Maybe it's something you want.

Prime Lewis will **** Vitali and his entire Country. The way ***** is doing right now.

The only thing that will change about Lewis vs Vitali is maybe 10 years from now, Vitalis place of origin have to be changed to Russia on boxrec.

Lewis TKO 6'd Vitali, but Vitali TKO'4'life Lewis...

Lewis had just beat the guy he always wanted to be beat in Tyson. So after that he was not as motivated plus the year layoff plus he is no gym rat ..........

Plus it was short notice after his fight with Johnson was cancelled due to Johnson's injury......

So he came into the Vitali fight out of shape. Everyone is in agreement in that Lennox was not in shape including Vitali. The only ones that don't buy that are some of Vitali's fans for some reason. Still, like I said before, Lennox still won that fight.

So after the Tyson fight, it was more like a fight for either Floyd or Manny after they fight each other. Anyone after that will not have the same excitement and motivation. Again, even worse because of the year layoff and that Lennox is no gym rat at that point in time.

This topic has been done to death. Fact is Vitali just had his number, Lewis could not outbox him nor could he knock him out, the only way Lewis could win was by Vitali getting injured or cut, outside of that Lewis lacked the stamina to keep throwing the bombs necessary to keep Vitali off of him for 12 rounds. Without any injuries or cuts Vitali wins by KO somewhere in rounds 9-12.
