Titles dont hold any weight. Martinez was the champ vs Cotto yet Cotto was the A-side because he was the bigger draw and money generator given that they were fighting at MSG on PR Wknd.

Reason Cotto is the A in this fight is because he is needed by Canelo badly. Canelo put all the pressure on himself with the whole taking May back.

Cotto is using the uncertainty of the Pac-May negotiations to his benefit. Can't blame him since he has to max out at this time. He's going to be stopped against Canelo or lose another wide majority decision to Floyd.

That is debatable....what's not is that Canelo wants to take floyds date and he can only do that with cotto. That puts cotto in a powerful position. You've never heard cotto call out Canelo. Canelo is the one begging.

Stop it. A loss is a loss and although Cotto put up a better fight, both fighters lost clear decisions.

Cotto loses as well. He makes more against Canelo than he does against Floyd who is notorious for lowballing his opponents. Not to mention, where is Showtime getting the $ to pay Floyd his guarantee in addition to paying Cotto what he wants (which is in upwards of 8-10mil). If they lost money on the Maidana fights and paid Maidana only 1.5mil, how can they expect to turn a profit paying Cotto 3 times that? Its not as if Floyd/Cotto would do 3x the amount of ppv sales as Floyd/Maidana. I see them doing around a mil max.

-Both fought Trout. Cotto got completely outboxed while Canelo won a close decision.

-Both fought Floyd and lost albeit Cotto put up a better fight. Nonetheless a loss is a loss.

                  -Both fought and beat Mosley.

                  -Canelo's biggest win....Erislandy Lara

-Cotto's biggest win......I'd say Mosley as Margarito came into that fight with 1 good eye and Martinez had a leg like baby bambi.

Floyd/Alvarez did almost a mil more buys than Floyd/Cotto.

So I ask again.....What makes Cotto feel that he can call all the shots here? As I see it, both are about equal as far as draw and star appeal for their own reasons.

Cotto has headlined more PPV's - Judah, Mosley, Martinez, and there may be another one I'm forgetting...

And he's been fighting on the bigger stage longer.

Plus, if they fight at MW division, he is technically the lineal champ (although we all know there's only one true MW champ - G cubed aka G to the third power.)

Really, though, they are both pretty even when it comes to ability to draw eyes on television sets, and put asses in seats. Canelo may even have a slight edge on Cotto being Mexican-American.

But ****, even though Floyd was the A-side in their record-breaking revenue fight, Canelo definitely was the only reason that fight sold so well...

TBH, actually, I think it's more like Cotto is the A+ side, and Canelo is the A/A- side.

The purse split should either be 50/50, or like 52-53/48-47 Cotto.
