What makes Cotto the A-side vs Canelo?

Aside from having longevity in the sport, what has he done that's so greater than Canelo that warrants him being the A-side that calls all the shots?

-Both fought Trout. Cotto got completely outboxed while Canelo won a close decision.

-Both fought Floyd and lost albeit Cotto put up a better fight. Nonetheless a loss is a loss.

    -Both fought and beat Mosley.

    -Canelo's biggest win....Erislandy Lara

-Cotto's biggest win......I'd say Mosley as Margarito came into that fight with 1 good eye and Martinez had a leg like baby bambi.

Floyd/Alvarez did almost a mil more buys than Floyd/Cotto.

So I ask again.....What makes Cotto feel that he can call all the shots here? As I see it, both are about equal as far as draw and star appeal for their own reasons.

For the record, I'm Puerto Rican and a big Cotto fan before someone labels me a Cotto hater or a Canelo fanboy.

And how many A wins Canelo got? Legit wins. Not bogus decisions.

Isn't a-side b-side about stardom and money?...not skills or resume? Who brings more money to the table? That's what I thought it meant. If not then Martinez should've been the a-side against cotto. Personally I think canelo clearly brings more $ to the table than cotto and is the bigger "star". That's just my opinion. He was part of the highest grossing fight in boxing history. That doesn't mean canelo is more accomplished though.

Close wins can and will always be disputed. My question is, what has Cotto done that makes him the shot caller vs Canelo?

I agree. In the boxing world, the A-side is the one generating the $. I dont see where Cotto generates more money than Canelo at this stage in their careers.

He holds a MW title and sold more PPV's? I don't know I don't really care.

The fight will happen in June unless Floyd fights Cotto in May

love how the bold is contradictory, you mention Cotto got completely outboxed by Trout and say Canelo got a close decision which should have been a draw btw

Then just mention they both lost to Floyd, but Cotto won quite a few round and put some hurt on Floyd... Canelo got completely outboxed every single second of the fight, you forgot that huh
