Devon Alexander actually has a very respectable fanbase in St.Louis. What a dumb example.
The fighter who probably has the biggest burgeoning fanbase in America right now is black....Terrance Crawford.Comment

Uhhh...The US's most popular and supported fighters have always been black.
Now I want you to name me the last time black Americans rallied around a non-black American boxer?Comment

Every group roots for someone like them TO AN EXTENT. It is human nature. That being said, Wilder not being very well-known is because the sport of boxing as a whole has become a niche sport. It has nothing to do with him being black. If he were white, he might be a little more known simply because there are more white people than black people in America, but I don't see there being a big difference. Yes, there is still racism in the world, but not every damn thing is racist. There have been plenty of popular black athletes who have become popular largely due to white support. I do not think you could be a popular athlete in America without white support, honestly. NBA is what? 75% black. Very popular. NFL is 68% black. Those are the two most popular sports in America. Hockey is mainly white guys and isn't nearly as popular as the other two. Stop being ridiculous. I'm a Floyd fan, but I can understand why people hate him. An few racists may hate him for being black, but I think 95% of the people who hate Floyd hate him because he hasn't fought the clear number one contender, he hits women, he says racist things, he brags about his wealth when most of the country is struggling financially, and many more things. Aim your anti-racism weaponry somewhere else.Comment

Because in America, there is no such thing as an American. You're either black, white, hispanic, asian, etc. Unfortunate, really.Comment

Before my time and I'm assuming yours but wasn't Ali hated by corporate / media / public just as much if not more Then all the boxers mentioned above combined when he was refusing to participate in the War and was down with Farrakhan.
The beloved figure that is Ali wasn't like that in the 60s it's just the passage of time people are forced to appreciate what he did in the ring and him rejecting the war made him a hero outside of it but from everything I've seen or read he was hated in his prime
Jack Johnson
Ali
Tyson
Mayweather
Were all outspoken and depised by the public when they were at their best
notice a trend.Comment
