Comments Thread For: Hunter: Andre Ward Already Said He'd Fight Golovkin
Collapse

Of course Ward's trainer would ideally want that after his fighter has been out for over a year. It wasn't even about GGG, it was about shaking off rust. He also said that Ward himself would be willing to go straight into a big fight. At the end of the day, it's not up to Virgil Hunter.
What I'm talking about is quotes from Golovkin's manager and promoter. Golovkin's trainer was the one talking all kinds of **** about being willing to face everyone from 154-168 but ultimately Tom Loffler was forced into a very public retraction of those statements.
GGG's team aren't taking the fight right now regardless of anything. They've made it crystal clear.Comment

What's wrong with saying your boy aint ready right now but might be in the future? Loeffler can admit it, why can't you?Comment

Why is it so hard for you to admit that GGG and his team are not ready for Ward? It's not a bad thing. Ward is one of the best fighters in the world and the risk is huge. Do you acknowledge that? You just look kinda pathetic hiding behind a bunch of excuses.

Just for giggles though, in your vast experience in big fight negotiations what number ($2 million, $3 million, $18.5 million) would Ward accept?Comment

Why didn't you answer mine? Tom Loeffler has stated many times that he's reached out to A-side fighters (not Ward of course).Comment

On the other hand, "Andre would need a couple of tune-ups first" DOES translate as "Andre is not ready"
You can split hairs and waffle till the cows come home - "yeah but, it was his trainer wot said that and his trainer is not his manager innit ... blah blah" - but what it means is that Ward is not ready to fight GGG. If Virgil Hill can admit that, why can't you?Last edited by kafkod; 01-06-2015, 12:42 AM.Comment

"The time is not right" does not translate as "Genady is not ready"

"Andre Ward already said he'd fight GGG but K2 Promotions has other plans" - Virgil Hunter
You can split hairs and waffle till the cows come home but K2 Promotions said a long time ago that they weren't ready for the Ward fight. Long before Hunter said anything about tune-ups. Whether Ward has or doesn't have tune-ups, Golovkin's people dont want the fight anyway. Stop distorting reality.Comment

Le's have a friendly bet. I bet $250 dollars that Ward would beat and school Golovkin, and turn him into the next Arthur Abraham once he moves up at 168.
Abraham was a beast at 160. And he has a better resume than Golovkin.
