Almost all of the most watched fights of the year were on HBO, like 1 was on Showtime or something. That should tell you right there what the fans think. The difference is Arum isn't afraid to give his fighters tough fights if need be while Hymen makes a career out of avoiding difficult fights for his boxers.

this is a dangerous sport that causes deaths and brain damage. the fighters need to be compensated no matter the opponent.arum understands that himself. so lampley if you don't like it. then get your punk, sex offending asz in the ring and get hit to see how it feels. War Haymon

Haymon is just waiting for that TV deal, HBO is afraid he will take all the top fighters off cable and put them on regular tv.

The more jim speak the more i see the bias from him. Arum and Haymon are the same this year i seen mismatch fights from both.

Some here are bringing up Arum. Yeah, he does protect SOME fighters SOMETIMES, but Haymon went mega on the concept, far outweighing any mis-matches Arum puts together. At least we get good fights with Arum. With Haymon it's a rarity.

As for all this money wrangling, it is interesting the disgust from many fans (me too), but then we look at the NFL with their player salaries, PLUS the fact that the U.S. govt gives the teams a big pile of taxpayer cashish yearly.... as if the NFL even NEEDS subsidies. But few complain because... IT'S THE NFL and there's such a huge fanbase.

And as for PPVs, basically you have a sport with a much smaller fanbase than the NBA or NFL... so the moolah has to come from somewhere. 50K fans pack NFL stadiums regularly. How often does that happen in boxing?

And as for the fanboys into Floydie... you are aware he steals from the sport that made him millions, right? By fighting chumps and ducking real challenges, that's exactly what he has done to murder the sport. Boxing will be better off after Floydie retires and Haymon and his ilk are gone from it.

And finally... AGAIN... since so many 'fans' wanna blame Arum. Not even REMOTELY in the same league of Duck-A-Thon cards as Haymon.

That's what I think is happening since Showtime and Haymon did give us stacked, competitive cards in 2013.

But they need to get back to doing that again. No one wants to see another crappy year full of tuneups and mismatches.

what's not being discussed here is how Al Haymon is USING DOPE MONEY to buy fighters.

He basically built his boxing empire on DOPE MONEY.

that's the real story here. not the fact that he's trying to take over boxing by instituting wwe like situations were his fighters are paid handsomely while taking on no hopers or the fact that he's breaking the ali act.

this guy is an actual drug dealing pederast.

that's the real story that boxing writers should cover.

Also provodnikov didn't even fight Castillo on HBO lol HBO wouldn't dare show that kind of fight like ShowTime did with salka, HBO has standards that's why they cleaned house in the ratings. Also Mauricio Herrera isn't a haymon fighter he is a golden boy fighter, and what dies HBO have to do with a judges decision? The second best top rank fighter Tim Bradley got robbed in the same card. Every single point you made is faulty and ******ed.
Broner is a 3 weight champion and has beaten more champions and better fighters than Algerie. He's a much more established fighter.

You can complain about Garcia/Salka is only one fight. GGG's whole career has been mismatches Broadcast in the US by HBO

Fair enough, but why bring up his hypocrisy when you agree that he's right about Haymon making a lot worse an already bad trend in the sport?

Why do people say Arum builds up fighters in easy fights? Floyd did all of his fights except for Oscar under Arum and people, especially his fans, who discredit Arum for doing that are discrediting the best part of Floyds career. Cotto had tough fights when he needed them, Floyd did, look at what Bradley has gone through under him, Rios and so many other fighters he's promoted. Top Rank knows how to build fighters.

No one is saying that you don't need tune-ups or just stay busy fights but that shouldn't be all your fights which is what Haymon does. Chavez had an easy road and he got put in his place by Martinez... Canelo had an easy road and the he got put in his place by Floyd. This is nothing but guys fighting each other for a shot at Floyd, one day someone will win and Haymon will continue the cycle. NBC will dump them eventually and who knows what Haymon will do then. HBO told him to **** off and somehow, though Haymon has control over all possible boxing on Showtime, it isn't good enough. He'll wear it his welcome and end up starting a business in something else and fail once more.
