Wlad is never getting fighter of the year.

Fighting Jennings in the US is a good move and has nothing to do with cherry picking. Jennings is the best American heavyweight.

How is it not a cherry pick?

He's specifically fighting him to make him look good.

Good read, but one question: on what planet did Jennings look good in beating Szpilka and Perez? He looked all kinds of mediocre to me.

I have no problem with Wlad vs Jennings, he's certainly no worse than Mormeck or Pianeta, but let's not big him up.

It's not out of the question that HBO asked for that fight.

At least Wilder is knocking his guys out left, right and centre.

Jennings is the definition of a cherry pick. Why pack it in? It's an absolute cherry pick made to make Wlad look good on American soil.

I don't think Wlad is scared of Fury, come on. The guy is a 10 year heavyweight champion. He's not scared. He's just making business.
Wilder's best opponent is Malik Scott, who was coming off a KO defeat to Chisora. Szpilka and Perez were both ranked higher than Scott.
OK, Jennings only just squeaked past Perez, but Wilder would never even have gotten into the ring with him, nor Szpilka, probably.
Wilder's 32 KO's mean nothing, when you look at the guys he was fighting.
I wouldn't call any of Deontay's fights entertaining either. They just weren't competitive at all. None of his opponents had the slightest chance of beating him, including Scott, who didn't even come to give it a try.

I'm not saying Wilder's is better. But I think both have unbelievably bad resumes for guys that are fighting for heavyweight titles.

None of them have fought anyone good.

Jennings is top ranked, young, hungry, undefeated. A real champion like Vlad travels to the US again to fight their main contender. Then he can fight the winner of Stiverne/Wilder next, the logic is perfect.

How bad is the HWT division when the champ's biggest year could be beating Bryant Jennings and the Stivernne/Wilder winner, especially if it's Wilder?

I guess if he beats Jennings, STivernne and then Fury that would put him in contention for FOTY.
