  • Well Arum sort of appealing to the lowest common denominator with all that extra history, he tends to do that. But I sort of agree with the premise CAnelo-Cotto would benefit more from the date than Floyd-Pac would...it is a big boxing date for us, yes, but there might be other streams of revenue that the fight could tap on another date. Factors that would make it just as much a bonanza as it would in May - this would allow Canelo-Cotto to hopefully flourish on Cinco de Mayo. I see that as a best case scenario.

Floyd-Pac will sell on any date
Floyd's 50th, for 50-0 possibly, will sell itself
Floyd possible retirement, PAc rematch/debut the new arena in 2016 - sells itself.

He doesn't need these dates anymore.

As far as Cotto, well he is playing his hand with Canelo. Of course he can say June to Canelo - but we all know he will fight in May because he would fight Floyd in May. If he really, really insists on June then he doesn't even have to fight Canelo and none of this **** happens and the status quo ensues...floyd-Khan in May, Canelo vs whoever. Btw **** this ****

Floyd fought an Argentinian on 2 separate Mexican Holidays this year (same dates he had record numbers against Mexican superstars)... how many buys did those two fights do?

Oh that's right, they were so great that Showtime decided to hide the #s from the public and rumors abound about them losing $16 million. Way to maximize profits.

Again, a Black guy fighting a Filipino on a Mexican Holiday will have little to no effect on the bottom line.

      When did Arum say that?

Just said not on May 2nd... which brings us to the age old question:

What's the issue with the fight happening on a non Mexican Holiday?
It still maximised the revenue, it would have done even worse on another date.

Does this need explaining to you? Mexicans tune in to boxing not just Mexican boxing.

The fact Floyd didn't do great with Maidana means what? What is your point and how does that relate to Mayweather-Pacquaio maximising it's revenue on May 2nd?

Mayweather-Mosley was on Cinco De Mayo for the exact same reason. It maximises revenue. Again, does this really need explaining?

You keep asking the same question and I've answered it; it can be on a different date, as can Canelo-Cotto. But logically they should go with the bigger fight which is obviously Mayweather-Pacquaio. That is your answer, I answered this the first time you asked it.

Arum said "the fight is not going to happen on that date" because it's "Canelo's date" A guy that isn't even his fighter!

      • Doesnt this prove who has been the hold up for this fight? Ariza said this about 4yrs ago and again a few months ago. Arum knows floyd would whip manny and take away Arums only ppv fighter. Now officially Manny is ducking floyd. Now its official no need to argue about manny vs floyd we know why.

          • Good old Arum working behind the scenes to secure the date everyone expected to be Mayweather v Pacquiao's for someone else. This is working against the fight not trying to make it.

            • Still get around the "It's a Mexican date" thing but he put Pac-Mosley on that same Mexican date, again whatever happened to "No more excuses" let's make this fight happen? Whatever happened to that from Arum?

I can't defend Arum on this. If Floyd wants 2nd May, Arum should accept that. If Floyd wants random bloods taken, Arum should accept that. If Floyd wants to pay Pacquiao $40 mill when the fight grosses $200 mill, Arum should walk away as that is a ****** offer.

The fact that negotiation hasn't even started or taken long yet and Arum has already come out with another one of his valid excuses is laughable. I have alway maintained that this fight would never happen because Arum really does not want it. I gain a little faith after the Algieri fight when I heard Arum saying no more excuses let's make the fight but I thought it was too late but since Mayweather has come out and said let's do it I thought maybe it would happen after all but for Arum to now say "Oh wait this is a Mexican date" is ducking all the way to the heavens, there really is no defending or twisting this by Arums media lead croonies.

Yep this is just laughable, until the media stands up and stop taking whatever they are taking from Arum then this fight would never happen, because we know Pac is not educated or smart enough to leave Arum.
