Well Arum sort of appealing to the lowest common denominator with all that extra history, he tends to do that. But I sort of agree with the premise CAnelo-Cotto would benefit more from the date than Floyd-Pac would...it is a big boxing date for us, yes, but there might be other streams of revenue that the fight could tap on another date. Factors that would make it just as much a bonanza as it would in May - this would allow Canelo-Cotto to hopefully flourish on Cinco de Mayo. I see that as a best case scenario.
Floyd-Pac will sell on any date
Floyd's 50th, for 50-0 possibly, will sell itself
Floyd possible retirement, PAc rematch/debut the new arena in 2016 - sells itself.
He doesn't need these dates anymore.
As far as Cotto, well he is playing his hand with Canelo. Of course he can say June to Canelo - but we all know he will fight in May because he would fight Floyd in May. If he really, really insists on June then he doesn't even have to fight Canelo and none of this **** happens and the status quo ensues...floyd-Khan in May, Canelo vs whoever. Btw **** this ****
