Unbeatable for the 'cruiser weights' of the time surely?
Is this really what you are resorting to LacedUp?

Through all your valiant defences, your going to culminate with a post like this?

Neither of us ever said the biggest guy is always better. That has never been either my or Welstch's inference.

Obviously, Wladimir is about 100x more skilled than Primo is.

MAny OTNB often point to Primo or other olden days HW's and claim that they resembled the Klits in boxing. For a start it's ridiculous. When you watch the Klits box, you can see the cerebrum ticking over, the intent focus. You can also see that the FORM of the Klits is generations removed from Primo and others.

But the clincher is this.. The timing and accuracy of Wladimir or Vitali Klitschko is so much better than any relevant HW in history that it sinks them quicker than the Titanic! THAT is boxing skill for real.

All this fog wash talk about fancy skills, styles etc..

The fundamental SKILLS to win fights are..

    - Timing
    - Accuracy
    - Judgement of distance.

Of which there has never been a boxer, with such advantage of distance and speed for such a big man, that has the degree of these qualities.

Comparing Wladimir Klitshcko to Primo Carnera, is even MORE of a stinking insult than comparing Joe Frazier to Mike Tyson!

Both are as far removed as the USA and USSR were from the Roman empire! They don't even play in the same league!

LacedUp you have just been indoctrinated into one of the biggest fallacies of all time my friend!

    • Did Primo Carnera even have a boxing amateur background?

      • You know I get it.

        I'm in my 30s myself.

When I am in my 50's or 60's.. And the HW champion of the world is someone I never heard of either. Do you think I'll be watching him on TV with reverence? I will be watching..

        Mike Tyson KO's...
        Evander vs Bowe trilogy...
        Lennox Lewis's career...
        Vitali Klitchko's career...
        SOME of Wladimir Klitschko's fights

I definitely will be a citizen of my time!

One thing I will not do though, is RUBBISH the THEN HW champion of the world, who is say, 6'8", 260lbs of ripped solid muscle, more athletic, comparably fast, far more powerful, stronger, has sharper skills and perhaps even better strategy than Wladimir or Vitali Klitschko, or Lennox Lewis!

Because I will KNOW that even though these were the boxers of my generation, I KNOW that as time goes by, boxers get better and better, athletes get stronger and faster.. And that's just how things roll!

OTNB guys like to position themselves as being "old and wise". Really. That whole mindset, is a disease of childhood. Not physically, but mental childhood.

This is a pivotal moment in boxing history.

In the past, every generation thought they were better than the next.

Only LATER did we realise that the next generation was usually better!

Today, many of us have woken up BEFORE the time is past to realise this IS the best generation BEFORE it's history.

Pull up a few pics and vids of some of your ATG's from the distant past.

Take a real hard look at these pictures!

And then rewatch that Pulev/Klitschko fight.

Pulev's guard was upright, which served him well to foil WK's jab.

For all the talk about Wladimir being more aggressive, that was PULEV for forcing him to be more aggressive by taking his main tool away! Apart from his guard, his defence was distance and timing!

Your friend Laced Up here tries to convince that Pulev's defence was lacking because he "didn't move his head". Why should he have to senselessly move it side to side? To try make a harder target? Modern HW opponents KNOW that doesn't work vs Wlad, he times it like a metronome.

Wladimir proved many old school tactics unnecessary in the case of himself, and utterly worthless in the case of his opponents!
But Wlad DOES use old school tactics, you idiot. He uses feints.

What are these so-called "old school" tactics? I guarantee you Wlad uses at least one of them.

              • Wlad is an ordinary talent, if he's so structurally sound, has all the ability, can punch with power and speed why do his fights STINK?
Could it be the weak opponents he always fights? Could it be he needs the opponents he fights? Must all his opponents stand in front of him with their arms outstretched waiting on him? When he gets hit why does he look down and some times actually stammers his feet? Could it be a fellow with over 60 bouts is nervous about getting hit? Why does his brother "cringe" every time
Wlad gets hit? What does he know that Wlads fans don't realize?

That there's "china in that closet???? That the legs aren't supporting that china closet like they used to? Is that why he fights C- fighters?

                ..................................YES it is!!!

wake up people its not a rumor its on tape right in front of you!!!!

                Ray.

Sure, ok VG, the statement was not entirely true, S-ORRY for occasionally extending the truth.

99% of what you say is total rubbish, and the "occasional" exaggeration I make is inexcusable? Bit biased!

Yes, he uses feints, he doesn't so much use any combinations for instance and he totally nullifies any combinations used against him.

What I should have said is that his BASIC skills are used prevalently, refined to such a high level that he "scarcely" needs to use the more wider repertoire of tactical skills. The words lack for me to describe them, but OTNB usually refer to them a "professional" skills, not based in "ammy" boxing, which I obviously dislike the analogy of, even thought there's an element of truth in it.

                      - His fights might "stink" as you call it, because he simply doesn't provide you with what YOU want to see as "boxing". He basically converted boxing from a back and forth slugfest (more exciting, I agree), into a chess match!

                      - Having weak opponents would serve to INCREASE the excitement if that were the case because WK would more easily be able to shine and dispose of them violently. Obviously because his opponents are either good or dangerous or both, this is not always the case.

                      - What would you recommend for these fighters to try next Ray? Wladimir has fought the most diverse range of opponents than any boxer.. Ever! From the iron chinned strongman, to the patient stalker, to the aggressive puncher, to the defensive master, to the slick counterpuncher and so on. and never loses a round. Wlad's opponent ALWAYS go in there to try something different, they simply find they can't!

                      - Wladimir has and always has, fought the top opponents. He never ducked anybody ever! How you can say he fights C level fighters eludes me. Who are these A level ones he missed?

                      - You try taking a shot from a hulking HW who lands a huge shot on you, powerful enough to have knocked out 3 of your favourite HW's in a row, and see if YOUR feet don't stammer a bit Ray.
