It's true what you said, his success unbroken is testament of how well he utilises his range now and protects his chin.

His "chin" often degraded by the nutbags as being "glass" is a total myth. With regards to this era, his chin is actually pretty good. Not an iron chin. If he takes too many flush hard knocks, he will go down still.

But that's with regards to the power of the current era. In today's HW boxing, with Wladimirs opponents all power trained like no past HW boxer was and at an average of 235lbs and so many fights against them, it should come as NO SURPRISE that these guys could knock WK out if they can land it.

If you inspect Wladimir's chin, against the "criteria" of what it would have had to stand up to in pre80's HW eras, Wladimir Klitschko would have an IRON CHIN!

The question who had the better chin out of WK and Geroge Chuvalo seems absurd to nostalgists.

But Chuvalo's chin had only to withstand the punches of CW sized fighters who were dead against power training, not todays fighters.

If you put WK in the 70's, only Foreman would really possess the power to actually hurt him if he could land.

If you put Chuvalo in the 2010's, his chin wouldn't last a round against most guys, he was never exposed to such crunching power.
youre bound to have few bad nights when you fight 66 times. 3 losses out of 66 isnt exactly to be ashamed of

    • Wlad has always had really good offense but as he gets more offensive he is more at risk. Still Wlad is a dangerous dude that will hurt most people before they hurt him.

It is much more fun to watch him when he is a bit more ******* with the power shots. His left hook has always been very good so he needs to make sure opponents fear that punch like they should. Most guys with left hooks like that (or even worse than Wlad's) are usually pretty reliant on it but it has never overly suited Wlad's style so it has always been kind of an untapped resource for him.

I don't care who cliff rold is but he sounds like an idiot

More skilled? The most skilled ones are. I any are not, they have other qualities to compensate.

More athletic? The most athletic ones are. If any are not, they have other qualities to compensate.

More powerful? No, it isn't debatable at all!

Basically the "total package" of all current hws is far greater than the total package of previous HW's.

        How could it be otherwise?

What has "HOF" got to do with anything? HOF is an American institution which basically exists to honour fighters from the past.

To get in it, you only had to, COULD only without a time machine, distinguish yourself against the boxers of your era. Today it is harder because the division is preceded by an almost invincible leader, and the punches are so hard that en route to challenge him, chances are great youll be splattered.

Almost every HOF or ATG fighter from the past, would never be able to compete today, Fact!
you are suffering from a very bad case of dumb.

        • A shame that a cool, class representative of boxing like Wlad has such dumb and foolish fans.

              NO.

The moment you mentioned "ATG" or "HOF" in a H2H sense with the current HW division was dumb. REAL dumb.

Pull up a few pics and vids of some of your ATG's from the distant past.

Take a real hard look at these pictures!

And then rewatch that Pulev/Klitschko fight.

Pulev's guard was upright, which served him well to foil WK's jab.

For all the talk about Wladimir being more aggressive, that was PULEV for forcing him to be more aggressive by taking his main tool away! Apart from his guard, his defence was distance and timing!

Your friend Laced Up here tries to convince that Pulev's defence was lacking because he "didn't move his head". Why should he have to senselessly move it side to side? To try make a harder target? Modern HW opponents KNOW that doesn't work vs Wlad, he times it like a metronome.

Wladimir proved many old school tactics unnecessary in the case of himself, and utterly worthless in the case of his opponents!

Klitschko fans, I have found to be by far the most intelligent fans in boxing.

                Floyd fans second to bottom.

And Old Time Nut Bags the least intelligent by FAR!

                Same as in every sport.

Bert Sugar syndrome is a disease that needs to be eradicated from boxing for it to thrive!

Bert Sugar believed Primo Carnera would beat Vladimir. I think he didn't even rate the Klitschko's, just because he didn't like them. He must be the prime example of an Old Time Nut Bag as you label them.

Yeah you could say that Weltsch.

Except unlike toss bags like our old mate LAcedUp, Sugar doesn't actually believe any of that tripe (I doubt anyway).

He earns money by promoting his historical American greats and allows him to make interviews and produce docos.

I thought this outing against Pulev would go a long way to silencing this rubbish once and for all. What a wrong prediction!

Why wasn't Primo Carnera champion for 10 years? 6'8, 250 lbs of lean muscle.

Isn't that what you claim can't be beaten by 'smaller guys' from the past?

Unbeatable for the 'cruiser weights' of the time surely?
