I just rewatched Clottey vs Cotto and rescored it.

I had followed Clottey's career leading up to that fight pretty well, I could tell something was off. It's like he wasn't fighting full force, and just chilled in his shell the entire night and threw a few punches every other round (which still managed to leave Pacquiao's face a mess after their "fight.")


You say it was just a bad style match up for Clottey, but then what explains him just disappearing from boxing afterwards? Clottey was a serious contender, he fought Zab, Cotto, Pacquiao and then....took over a year off and returned against some bum. Clottey gave Cotto hell and many believe that he actually won that fight. They weren't going to let him do that to Manny, so I believe Arum gave him some undisclosed money to throw the fight and go buy a big mansion in Ghana.


Regarding Canelo-Mayweather, if you were paying attention Canelo and their team told everybody before the bout he was going to fight with that ******ed strategy.

Re-watch the fight. Clottey didn't do as badly as you assume during the early rounds if you don't listen to the commentary. It's just that he isn't like Cotto where he could force Pacquiao to the ropes and tee off on him. Clottey is more methodic & he couldn't keep up with Pacquiao without getting brutalized like Cotto did. He was probably afraid that if he tried to open up more, he would get cracked badly like Cotto was cracked, so he decided to just try & pit-pat hoping Pacquiao slows down or messes up; I also guess that he mailed it in after the middle rounds because Pacquiao just continued his attack & Joshua figured, "Ehh Screw it, he's just too good to merit a beating trying to win."

I just rewatched that seventh round. Brush you really need to go back and watch it objectively, drop the cotto hatred and really watch it. If that's 10-8 then you need a psychiatric evaluation.

Lets not forget Cotto was boxing Clottey with blood getting in his eye through out the fight and yet Clottey couldn't even finish him off.

When I first saw the fight, It was clear as daylight that Clottey had won and the correct score was 114-113 Clottey, No other score. However that was with sound. I just watched the fight without sound and the huge difference was that first round. When I watched it for the first time I scored round 1 10-8 for Cotto because of the KD, but when I watched it on silence, There was a total difference. Clottey was dominating the first round and he did get knocked down. I scored it 9-9 when watching it on silent. Round 7 on silent I scored 10-8 for Clottey because Cotto did as much in that round as Donaire did against Rigondeaux in round 12. Watching fights on silent makes it so the crowd does not influence the scorecard. My new score is 114-112 Clottey.
