Kovalev's boxing ability is really underrated. He can hurt everyone, no one has had Bhop like that, ever. On top of that he can control distance. He will be hard to beat. Hopkins knew he had no shot and fought accordingly. The only consolation the spaz's have is that kovalev stumbled in the 12th, from their feet tangling. Watch them hold onto that.

If Hopkins really shot himself in the foot he would've been KO'd in 1. Kovalev had an answer for all of B Hops' tricks and simply schooled him.

Hopkins has been fighting weak opposition for years now.

When's the last time he beat a good opponent?

This wasn't Cloud, Murat or Shunenov in there.

Once you feel Kovalevs power you go into survival mode.

you try to step in the ring with him and eat his power combined with his boxing ability and flawless timing..... It's simply not worth it. Especially when you're 50.
I see what you're saying but honestly the way Hopkins was getting clobbered by the Kovalev's right on the top I would've taken my chance throwing a couple of stiff jabs with the risk of getting countered.

Just look at guys like Mauricio Herrera and Andre Ward, both of them have no power and lesser chins than Hopkins taking on strong, powerful, pressure fighters. What do they do they stay committed to throwing their jab and like I said Hopkins has a good one.

I was cheering for Kova to knock him out but Hopkins dropped the ball strategically speaking.

He's 50 freakin' years old with an already ridiculously low punch output and fought a guy who was able to neutralize his offense completely. Hopkins, at this stage in his career and age, had nothing for Kovalev and it's unreal he was able to go the distance. I'm not crapping on Kovalev's win, I still give him major props with how be beat Hopkins (rings smarts and technique not brute force and power).

Not saying he was going to win, Kovalev is just too big, too fast, too strong and too smart for Hopkins at this stage, but did Hopkins shoot himself in the foot or what? How do you fight a pressure fighter for 12 rounds and you jab him less than 15 times, this is unbelievable especially when it comes to Hopkins and he is the smartest.
                  What are you high?

Hopkins is 49, I think maybe he's done alright considering. He managed to survive 12 rounds! That in itself is an extraordinary achievement, I still can't believe it.

And then look at his opponent. Among the most dangerous fighters in boxing history.

He can be forgiven if he wasn't able to meet your expectations.

Herrera and Ward are not half a century old, why do you keep ignoring this important bit of information?

Did you miss the 1st round KD Kovalev was countering him that's why he didn't throw the jab he would of got punched for his effort.
