Toney never faced anyone at 160 who can hit as hard as Golovkin. I'm not saying who'd win, i'd just like to throw that in.
Golovkin can get you out with a single punch, he has one punch knockout power. I wouldn't be on the fight going the distance. Golovkin hasn't gone 12 rounds in his entire career.Last edited by KO'er; 10-30-2014, 05:37 AM.

His whole career doesn't get erased because of something that happened towards the end of it. That's why he will be a first ballot hall of famer
Barry Bonds, another steroid user has been denied entry to the Baseball Hall of Fame, if boxing wants to be taken seriously fighters who fail tests will also be denied entry in the future. We won't have to worry about that any time soon where Toney is concerned because he has applied the same poor decision-making to his finances and continues to fight.Last edited by Weebler I; 10-30-2014, 05:43 AM.

Forgive my Boxing ignorance here , but isnt boxing like any other sport ?
current best is better from the old best if they actually play/fight together ?
you can try and do "at my time i was much better then you are much better these days" , but if anyone believes that pele from back then is better than Messi/Ronaldo of TODAY you are crazy ... the sport has evolved and so does the players/fighters from training to nutrition to gear.....
if you take a time machine and put Messi in 1960 he will scores 10x goals then Pele , thats just how it is.
past fighters will usually lose to the modern boxers just by virtue of progress and evolution .
I agree that Pele is greater then Messi , because in their respective times Pele was better relative to the competition.
is Boxing different in that regard ? do you feel boxers from 50 years ago can beat the Kovalev`s Paq / FM / Wlad of this Era ?
like really beat them if they face each other ? (time machine and all)

That fight was a huge learning experience for a Toney who was only 23 years old. A little unfair to compare that guy to a 32 year old Golovkin.
what? please be honest and admit you made logical mistake. it's strange to read, because we're talking about 160lbs. ten years later [in his 30s] toney's fought @ 200lbs. do you want to compare 160lbs.-fighter to 200lbs.-experienced fighter? are you serious? it's fair to compare two 160lbs.-fighters. therefore my arguments are ok.

Actually Golovkin style would play right into Toney's hands. James would rather Gennady take the lead so he could lay back on the ropes in that Philly shell defense, while ripping off lethal counter uppercuts on him each time he opens up in an attempt to overpower him
Moreover, Toney would have his chin tucked while a swarming Gennady leaves his chin exposed and runs the risk of punching himself out with punches that doesn't connect, which will again play right into Toney's hands cause Toney was a very accurate puncher who would counter Golovkin at will and possibly even stopping him in the process.
It will almost be like batting practice for James Toney had the two ever fought in his prime. This fight could very well be reminiscent of his bout with Vassiliy Jirov.

7:20 s. how about ggg's left hook? it would be fatal.
Henceforth everyone who wants to play the "expert" plays it safe by picking the retired fighter.Last edited by ////; 10-30-2014, 06:36 AM.
